Poppy + The Dress She Wants to Be Buried In
Earlier this week, Poppy released her latest single, the dark but catchy " Church Outfit ," yet the next chapter in the singer's ever-evolving musical style.
"This is the dress I want to be buried in / Leave the rings, I might need them / Unholy water, take a sip / This is my church outfit," she sings on the track.
The 28-year-old Poppy, who first came to prominence through a series of bizarre YouTube videos and subsequently recorded industrial metal tracks such as 2019's " Bloodmoney ," continually reinvents herself.
PVRIS will release their latest album, EVERGREEN , in July — hear their single " Good Enemy ."

Both artists have recently released new music. Poppy’s âChurch Outfitâ came out this week. The release marks a new era for the singer â straying away from her previous metal sound and into the world of electro-dance.
PVRIS recently announced details of their fourth album and shared its first single âGood Enemyâ.Â
Speaking about the new album, vocalist Lynn Gunn said: ââEvergreenâ is a reclamation of control in our post-pandemic culture, posing a complex discussion on fame, technology, spectacle, and female autonomy.â
She added: âItâs not my job as an artist to cater to certain trends or peopleâs nostalgia, I have to follow what I feel compelled to follow and do my best to uncover what truths and messages I can find within that. I have to always embrace the risks of change and trust that each stage of my musicâs life will resonate with whoever itâs meant to.â
Meanwhile, Speaking to NME  last year about the bandâs fourth album, PVRIS frontwoman Lynn Gunn said: âIâve been trying to think less in terms of eras, and just [on] whatâs happening in the moment.
âIn the last few years, thereâs been a lot of pressure on artists and bands to have a defined âeraâ, and thereâs so many in-between moments that are also so crucial.â
This winter, PVRIS will support Fall Out Boy on their UK arena tour behind their new album â So Much (For) Stardust â.

The Godless/Goddess Tour is set to cover 18 shows across the U.S. and Canada, including a coveted date in Los Angeles! On Thursday, 24th August 2023, the performers will light up the Wiltern with their biggest hits! Poppy is currently promoting her latest effort Flux, which was released in 2021. She also recently released her latest EP, Stagger. Meanwhile, Pvris are about to drop their latest effort, Evergreen, this summer! If you’re keen on experiencing Poppy and Pvris’ biggest hits, live, you should hurry and score your tickets before it’s too late!
Singer-songwriter Poppy first stepped into the limelight as a Youtuber. She channels an android-like persona and has maintained a mystery of her origins. She has been known to transition between genres from bubble gum pop to heavy metal and electronica. In 2017, she dropped her debut album, Poppy.Computer. The album showcased art-pop tracks, such as “I’m Poppy,” “Interweb,” and “Moshi Moshi.” The album entered Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and Independent Albums, peaking at numbers 11 and 33. A remix version of the labrum was later released in 2018, containing remixed tracks of “Interweb” and “Moshi Moshi.”
In 2018, Poppy began infusing heavy metal music into her pop tunes. Her second album, Am I a Girl belted out the single “Play Destroy,” which received wide critical acclaim due to its pop and heavy metal elements. Since not a lot of artists have done this kind of genre infusion, the single received the attention of critics and fans alike. In an interview, Poppy categorized the song as “poppymetal,”
Two years after entering the heavy metal world, Poppy signed with the rock and metal record label Sumerian Records. Her third album, I Disagree, peaked at number 130 on the Billboard 200, marking her first entry into the chart. Meanwhile, the album also peaked at number 5 on the Top Hard Rock Albums and number 15 on the Top Rock Albums charts. When fans and critics were a bit wary of her transition to metal in her previous album, this time, they were ecstatic. I Disagree was included in several “best of” lists, including topping the Albums of the Year by Upset Magazine. I Disagree and also received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance.
Pop rock band Pvris released their debut album, White Noise, in 2014. The record entered the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 6 on the Top Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums. In 2017, Pvirs debuted their single, “Heaven,” on BBC’s Radio 1 Rock Show. The song is featured in their sophomore effort, All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell, which became their highest charting effort to date. The album peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200 and charted at number 4 o the Top Alternative and Top Rock Albums.
This 2023, fans can look forward to new music as Pvris debuts their new album, Evergreen, and some of its iconic tracks, such as “Animal,” “Anywhere But Here,” “Goddess,” and “Good Enemy.”

Poppy, Pvris deliver pop, metal, experimental music in Pittsburgh show
It’s impossible to pigeonhole singer Poppy into just one genre of music.
And that was on display Wednesday night at the Roxian Theatre in McKees Rocks, where Poppy and Pvris co-headlined their Godless/Goddess tour.
Bouncing between heavy metal, industrial bubblegum, dark wave, pop punk and more, Poppy took command of the audience with barely a word. Pre-programmed, android-like recordings using her voice played a few times between songs, whether it was to celebrate being in Pittsburgh or cajole the packed crowd on the floor to move even closer for a photo.
Dressed all in black and with her pigtails whipping as she banged her head, Poppy unleashed raw, throat-thrashing screams on some songs like “Sit/Stay” while changing the dynamics by going softer on others. Her performances on some of her more nu metal-ish songs gave off a more chill vibe than the testosterone-fueled originators of the style.
Poppy, who became the first solo female artist to be nominated for a Best Metal Performance Grammy for her song, “Bloodmoney,” in 2021, has a new album, “Zig,” coming out on Oct. 27. She’s already released three singles, including “Church Outfit” and ”Knockoff,” which were both played Wednesday.
Pvris, a three-piece fronted by singer/guitarist Lynn Gunn, gave a fiery performance amidst a greenery-covered stage.
Touring in support of the new album, “EVERGREEN,” which came out on July 14, Pvris had more of a pop punch and had the crowd dancing for their hour-plus set.
Gunn alternated between just singing or adding a guitar, often moving to stage right where she could turn and participate with her bandmates. “Monster” had Gunn getting down low on the stage to be nearer to the crowd.
Pvris’ highlights of the night included opener “I Don’t Wanna Do This Anymore,” “Take My Nirvana” and “Good Enemy” — all off the new album — as well as “Hallucinations” and “Death of Me.”
Pvris actually played with a replacement drummer after their touring drummer, Denny Agosto, severed a finger tip in a freak accident last week.
