MSC Casino - Free Cruise Program
By Pizaz , June 6, 2023 in MSC Cruises

Hello Everyone!
I sailed my first MSC cruise ever in March and had a Yacht Club Interior. On my final morning I had a folder from the Casino placed on my bed which offered a free Ocean View room for a sailing up to 10 days in length. I contacted the casino and had this upgrade to a Yacht Club Deluxe Balcony for an August sailing. On my booking I see "Pax Type: Casino Free Cruise Program". Does anyone have experience on a sailing under the Casino vouchers and if they have any specific fun casino events which may be offered during the cruise under this type of fare? Thank you!

We also have an upcoming cruise booked using a casino voucher. Ours was 30% off but we used it on a YCI as well.
As of yet, we have not been contacted by the casino about any special events/activities on board surrounding the casino but we may be too far out yet for an 8/6 sailing. However, I am currently on Seaside and have spent a lot of time in the casino thus far. It stinks IMO… literally and figuratively. The area is SUPER hot. No air movement at all so the smoke is heavy. Even the casino hostess was talking about the heat. And the space is very small. Too many people cramped into a tight space of mostly the same type of slot machine.

We have sailed a few times on Cruise Certificates earned on a previous cruise. Do not expect too much from the casino. It really is dependent on the host. When we had Lucky Lynn she was great. A welcome gift and checked in a lot during the cruise. The next cruise we had a horrible temp host. The following cruise the host was decent but he was very busy since it seemed like a lot of casino certificate people were on board.
Does anyone know if they keep any records of being offered a free cruise? I had earned enough casino points onboard to get the free cruise but didn't pick up the paper onboard.

They are usually VERY tight about you having the paper.
Aside from the discount certificate that we usually get on about the 4th night, on the last night they give you a paper for certain amount of casino cash on your next cruise. They do not advertise that much.
If you got the discount coupon, you will also get the cash one. They wait until the last night to base the amount on your play for the entire cruise. It is a game they play ! If you are not in the casino the last night...no $$ paper :O(
Our next one is in August. I will get $400. cash at the casino cashier with that.
You MUST have that paper or no $$.
Just hit the “free” cruise point accumulation and can confirm @Shippy ’s assessment regarding the casino host being tight lipped about the voucher process. Even though I hit the required amount tonight, I must be present on the final night to claim my voucher. @smile145 , I’m not feeling too optimistic about your voucher being issued after debarkation but I’d definitely give the casino dept a call. It can’t hurt.

I would like to do this as well. Would you mind shedding some light on how they priced the YC as it relates to the free cruise voucher? Did the simply subtract the value of the voucher from the YC category you selected? Or something else.
At this point my “free” cruise has cost me more than my current cruise in the YC so I’m not sure how much more I’d want to pay.

Of course. My upcoming sailing is MSC Fantasia in August out of Kiel, Germany. I contacted the MSC Casino number on my voucher and asked if the Free Room was upgradable to which they confirmed. To upgrade from the Sea View to YC Deluxe Balcony was a flat $3k which I paid then ad the booking was made/confirmed.
To the earlier person who mentioned having to request the paper, I actually didn't even know of the Casino perks my entire trip in March. I know the Casino host on MSC Virtuosa was a fun and engaging individual who checked on me a lot after a couple days of gaming. Great conversation and while in the Casino, they kept drinks flowing to me and were all great conversationalists. I was packed and ready to go the night before disembarkation and after stepping out for some late night drinks came back to the free cruise voucher along with a sweet note from the Casino host on it thanking me for the conversations throughout the cruise. If I had not gotten the folder and free cruise voucher, I would have never known about it, so perhaps there I was fortunate...

We always get the 30% off coupon. Here is why I say they have the best casino club at sea... Any other cruise line makes you book through their casino dept.
MSC lets you make the booking. So...
I call my favorite internet agency & book through them. I think MSC is pretty much priced fixed but my TA always though in things like OBC prepaid gratuities, etc.
When I get the booking number, I call MSC casino department, give it to them & they apply the 30% discount.....sweet.
They used to allow that towards ALL categories so once we got a YC3.
They stopped that but still allow the other YC categories....at least for now :O)

Last week on the Msc cruise, I earned enough casino points to get a free cruise and also received onboard discount vouchers from the casino on the fourth night. On the last night, I went to the casino to play and cashed out my winnings, but no one gave me any physical documents. Does this mean I didn't receive the FCC? (I made a small profit from playing in the casino this time, not sure if this would affect my eligibility for the FCC from the MSC casino?)

Look for email 2-3 weeks after you get back...will have all the details on your offer
If you do not receive any email, you can email them and they will let you know if you have anything available.

Can someone explain how this program works?
It’s been reported elsewhere on the forum that the 30% discount voucher has been discontinued.

How much do you have to spend at the casino roughly to get these benefits?

Its not how much you spend... its how much you gamble.... you need to gamble around $30k in a slot machine

Those two things are the same thing for me 😉 Never win.
I've heard that cruise ship slot machines are unregulated and have very low return rates?

Bilt Platinum Status Now Gets You a Year of Air France…
New amex refer a friend offers: +10x on dining for referrer, capital one to buy discover – some possible effects, capital one miles [complete guide], delta ending 2,500 mile / 20 minute baggage guarantee (reports), american jacks up cost to check a bag, major turkish miles & smiles devaluation, get southwest companion pass through feb 2025 with a new card…, rio las vegas now part of world of hyatt, hilton partners with… autocamp, if you blinked you missed out on the marriott bonvoy /…, hyatt global bonus journeys: registration is live, hyatt’s yearly category changes are up, ocean changes prime benefits for new program year (july 1, 2023 – june 30, 2024).
Ocean casino in Atlantic City has revamped their benefits for the Ocean Prime tier that gets matched from Hard Rock’s Rock Royalty (or ICON), per the Atlantic City match route in the master Status Match Merry Go Round™ article.
You can still match after 12 months (Updated below)
You can match after 18 months – this is up from 12 months in previous years – of inactivity (or be a new member) per the Tier Match brochure , but Wynn is out and Resorts World Las Vegas is in – and the MSC Cruise is now ANYWHERE in the world except China, good for an oceanview room on a 10 night sail. And it;’s still just a $400 deposit given back as onboard ship credit – no port fees or taxes – so it’s FREE!
Remember that if you matched after March 31 2023, they have said you’ll be extended through 2024 so you should be all set (though I’m not sure if that requires a visit or not; certainly it does if you want your new card with new expiration date).
In this article
MSC Cruise Benefit
Offer valid no more than once per calendar year. Sailings must occur prior to June 30, 2024. Reservations are subject to availability. Cannot be combined with any other offer. Additional fees required for blackout dates. Stateroom can be upgraded for an additional fee.
Deposit required at time of booking. Deposit will be refunded in the form of shipboard credit for Reserve and Prime Members only. Deposits and upgrade charges are non-refundable within 90 days of departure. Any changes of sailing date must be completed 91 days prior to selected sailing.
MSC Cruises reserves the right to refuse to honor any prices/sailings that are erroneously printed or quoted. Other restrictions may apply. Excludes China itineraries.
Resorts World Las Vegas Benefit
You can book Hilton or Conrad, not Crockfords.
This offer is valid for one use exclusively for invited Ocean Rewards members only. Valid through June 30, 2024. Genting Rewards enrollment is required and members are subject to program terms and conditions. Offer is non-transferable and subject to change.
Offers received in error are not valid. Resorts World Las Vegas reserves the right to modify, revoke or discontinue this offer at any time without prior notice. Blackout dates may apply and room type is based on availability.
A two-night minimum stay is required to redeem this offer and any inclusions. This offer is not valid consecutively with or in conjunction with any other offer.
A valid major credit card must be presented upon check-in. The decisions of Resorts World Las Vegas management regarding all aspects of this promotion are final and binding, subject to NRS 463.362. When The Fun Stops. Problem Gamblers HelpLine 1-800-522-4700.

Have you heard what they consider inactivity? We got the card a year ago and played only that weekend. The status was good until July if this year. We redeemed Wynn nights last month. Does the 18 months of inactivity countdown start from a year ago when we last played in the Ocean Casino, a month ago when we used the benefit of a free room at the Wynn or this month when our status/card expires? Thanks for your articles and info.
It’s the last time you did any of the following: stayed on a casino rate/freebie at the hotel, gambled with the card, used the card for a promo or to enter the lounge etc. Any actual card activity. Cruises etc don’t count.
I last played at ocean in late 2020 I tier matched this January, used the free Wynn room but never played at ocean or went back after thay day. I did use the lounge but this wasn’t even a card swipe. I wasn’t even parked there as I walked over from hard rock.
When I log into my ocean account it says last activity 900 something days ago so I’m hoping to tier match again.
Yes, you are good to go., @Tom F
Right now I’m waiting for my Wyndham/Caesars Diamond match. Once that happens, I’ll be visiting AC to get my Ocean Prime match. Does this mean I won’t be able to match again until 18 months later?
Yes. Unless they change it again next July.
Thanks. I read in another post of yours that the cruise is an annual benefit. Is this still true or is once for every match (18 months apart)?
Should still be annual, @Dan.
Called to book and also inquire about the annual cruise with MSC. Agent said its once per status year July 1st to June 30th, not annual calendar year. Arguing semantics didn’t help. I was really hoping for 2 cruises. Just a data point, but let me know if anyone has success booking once per calendar year from their one status match.
Thanks for this Dave. Just wanna note since this was an apparent throng with Wynn that you had to book 30 days out , it doesn’t seem to be the case for Resorts world. Called on 7/2 and made reservation the same month.
Combining this with Hilton gold will also apparently get you a $25 F&B credit per day.
Just got back from Resorts World. Stayed at the Conrad, tried to upgrade rooms (Hilton Gold) on a weekend and they only had 2 bedroom suites aviable at $2,000 a night. Everything was comped even the resort fee. Because of this they said I would not get the $25 F&B for being a Hilton Gold Member.
For the slot credit & F&B credit it was not automatically loaded when I got my rewards card & I had to show the cage my offer. Keep in mind for the F&B offer you have to use your card & ID, don’t let them tell you it will taken off at the end from your room charges (I made that mistake and did not use the credit at all). The credit is on your rewards card.
Hi the rewards flyer says the resorts world offer is “one time use only”. Do you know if that’s once per calendar year or once, period?
I would take that to mean one time during your member year, but I don’t know for sure. That is definitely different language than the Wynn offer which stated once per calendar year.
Completed Caesars diamond to HR to OP in less than an hour. Valet was comped all three casinos. Are the Resorts World benefits per colander years as long as the card isn’t expired? I plan to be in LV in November and next March for both for 5 nights. I’d consider staying all 10 nights at Conrad if I’m able to double dip. Finally, if my Ocean Prime card expires on 7/1/24 it’s my understanding I’ll have to wait 18mo without activity, then match again to to regain these benefits?
Able to rematch August 2023 into Ocean Prime using Hard Rock Rock Royalty (didn’t use free nights the first time I status matched), waited until after the 15th of the next month to try to get my two nights at Resorts World. Called 9/18/23, they said my Prime number wasn’t on their list at Resorts World. They’re looking into it, will call back. Any advice or experience with issues redeeming? I booked my free MSC cruise today, so I know the Ocean Prime status is good
If I have both Oceans Prime which gives the free MSC cruise and I also have Rivers Platimun which also says free 10-day cruise does that mean that I get 2 free MSC cruises or is that at the discretion of MSC to decide?
@Josh – isn’t the Rivers Platinum cruise only for EARNED status now? I believe so which eliminates this as an option – however, if you do have earned status, then you should be eligible for both.
I am not sure if it is or not I will have to check.
I’m considering matching Caesars Diamond to Ocean Prime in early 2024. If I want to have my Ocean Prime status valid through 2025, do I need to wait until after March 31 2024 to match?
If we knew it would work like last year, I would say March – but we just don’t know what they are planning for status matches in their next program year.
wait till after 6/30/2024
Just getting into this status match game and got my FC card. So now I have done the status match to Ceasers Diamond. Says I need to go to the casino to get my card which I am hoping to do soon. After I pick up my Ceasers card do I just go to Oceans and show them that to status match so I can get the MSC cruise or will I need to do something else? TIA
Hey @Edward. That would not work. Please see this newer article: https://milestalk.com/atlantic-city-merry-go-round-quick-update/

How MSC’s private island experience is different for cruisers in suites
Do you enjoy large cruise ships but still want to feel like you're in the lap of luxury? Passengers booked in MSC Cruises' Yacht Club cabins and suites have access to high-end amenities – both on the ship and off.
Butlers, exclusive dining and a private pool delight guests on board, but perks also await on MSC 's private island, Ocean Cay Marine Reserve , in the Bahamas. You can expect dedicated trams, towel service and a chance to book the nicest cabanas on the island, among other extras.
Read on to find out how the MSC Yacht Club Ocean Cay experience differs from that of the average cruiser.
For more cruise guides, news and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .
MSC Ocean Cay Yacht Club beaches vs. regular beaches
MSC's Ocean Cay Marine Reserve private island is home to seven (soon to be eight) beaches, and all are public, except one — Ocean House Beach, which is the Yacht Club's exclusive swath of sand. Beyond its exclusivity, the beach has a few other differences from the island's regular beaches.
There, use of lounge chairs and umbrellas is free. Chairs at the other beaches are also free and available on a first-come, first-served basis; however, umbrellas come with an extra cost.
Passengers must sign out towels on board the ship before heading ashore to Ocean Cay's main beaches. Yacht Club passengers can skip that hassle and ask for towels at the towel tent found on Ocean House Beach.
Interestingly, I found that several of the public beaches were less crowded than Ocean House Beach. At the latter, chairs were positioned much more closely to one another. If you're willing to walk or hitch a ride on one of the island's trams, you'll find fewer crowds on the farther beaches than if you stick close to the ship.
MSC Ocean Cay Yacht Club food vs. regular dining
Free lunch is included for all cruisers who visit Ocean Cay. For Yacht Club travelers, the Ocean House Restaurant — an exclusive waiter-served dining venue where passengers enjoy their meals on a shaded porch — exudes upscale beach vibes.
During my visit, the menu included starters like crab ceviche, charred octopus and a salad with romaine, tomatoes, jicama, a poached egg and candied bacon in a citrus dressing. Mains featured locally sourced blackened mahi-mahi, lobster roll, carne asada, a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich and one of the best burgers I've ever tasted during a cruise — a blend of Angus chuck, short ribs and grilled brisket with red onion jam and Monterey Jack cheese. Desserts consisted of creme caramel, mango cheesecake and chocolate cake with coffee sauce.
The meals at Ocean House are definitely superior to the fare found at the Seakers buffet, which is where cruisers not staying in the Yacht Club can go for a beach barbecue that serves hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, macaroni and cheese, red beans, roasted potatoes and a slew of salads, drinks and desserts.
The food is tasty, but lines can be long. An alternative is to head to one of several food trucks throughout the island. Some are free and dole out the same items offered on the buffet but with shorter lines. Others sell entirely different menu items — lobster grilled cheese, fried calamari, shrimp with watermelon, Caribbean ceviche and octopus salad — with the cost charged to cruisers' onboard accounts.
Additionally — and also for an extra fee — a stand near the ship offers specialty coffee and ice cream. (If you're a coffee lover, trust me when I say you won't want to miss the Coco-Nilla Latte.)
MSC Ocean Cay Yacht Club cabanas vs. regular cabanas
There are three types of cabanas on Ocean Cay: Ocean Cay Beach Cabanas, Ocean View Yacht Club Cabanas and Beachfront Yacht Club Cabanas. All three types are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
They can hold up to six people each and include cold water, beach towels and chairs, as well as floating mats for use in the water. As the prices increase, so does the number of inclusions. The last two types are only available for booking by Yacht Club passengers.
Ocean Cay Beach Cabanas, found on South Beach, North Beach and Bimini Beach, are the most affordable on the island at $250 for the day. They've got walls on three sides, and they're outfitted with cushioned couches. They include the basic amenities mentioned above, and anyone can rent them.
Next up are the Ocean View Yacht Club Cabanas, which cost $400 for the day and also entitle you to free lunch and drinks, as well as fresh fruit skewers, four sets of snorkel gear and four floating mats. They're found on the Yacht Club's private Ocean House Beach, so they're off-limits to non-Yacht Club guests.
The most expensive, however, are the Beachfront Yacht Club Cabanas, located in a different section of the Ocean House area. They carry a $450 price tag but offer all the same extras as Ocean View Yacht Club Cabanas.
The draw? They're closer to the water and, therefore, have better views. Although they aren't on the main part of Ocean House Beach, they are still in the exclusive area, near the restaurant, so you don't have to go far to grab food.
Ultimately, the only thing being in the Yacht Club affords you in this case is the option to book more expensive cabanas.
MSC Ocean Cay Yacht Club trams vs. regular trams
At 95 acres, Ocean Cay is sizable. If you're fit, you can walk from one end to the other in about 15 minutes, but if you don't have great mobility or if you're easily overheated, reaching some of the island's more remote beaches can be difficult on foot. That's why MSC offers tram shuttles.
Passengers in standard cabins will find tram stops with shaded waiting areas throughout the island. However, waits can be long, especially if many other people are also in need of a lift.
Yacht Club cruisers can take advantage of trams exclusively for the Yacht Club. They run between a special tent (with free cold water to sip while you wait) set up just inside the entrance to Ocean Cay and the Ocean House beach and restaurant area.
You can make special requests for stops, which the regular trams usually won't accommodate. For example, you might ask to go straight from the tent to South Beach for a volleyball game without stopping anywhere else first.
MSC Ocean Cay Yacht Club activities vs. regular activities
This is the one category where the island's public spaces beat the Ocean House area by a mile. If you're looking for something to do other than eating, drinking or lazing by the beach, you'll have to head back toward the ship because there's not much going on in the exclusive areas.
Everything from massages, lighthouse tours and water sports equipment rentals to beach parties, volleyball games and shore excursions takes place elsewhere. However, perhaps that's by design. The Yacht Club is generally quiet, even on board, and the line likely prefers to keep the raucousness to other locations.
Bottom line
The MSC Yacht Club experience is more exclusive than the standard one at Ocean Cay, with extras like butler service, dedicated trams, towel service, access to pricier cabanas and a private beach and restaurant with better food and shorter waits.
However, all of the action — shore excursions, pickup volleyball games, beach parties, the lighthouse show — happens in the areas that are accessible to everyone, which significantly levels the playing field.
Additionally, items like specialty coffee, ice cream and for-fee food truck orders cost extra for everyone — even Yacht Club passengers.
Overall, Ocean Cay offers a great day for anyone who enjoys the beach, regardless of cabin type.

Tourists and residents alike can take advantage of the many cruises that depart from New York City, offering easy access to warm weather getaways, family vacations, expeditions, and more. After all, nothing screams adventure like sailing away from the Big Apple with the Statue of Liberty and iconic city skyline in your wake.
Plus, New York is home to the oldest cruise terminal in the United States. Nowadays, there are two hubs, one in Manhattan and another in Brooklyn . An additional cruise terminal, in Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, also serves the area.
The Manhattan cruise terminal is located on the edge of Midtown, making it easy to spend port days or pre-cruise time exploring Times Square, Central Park, or the Theater District. The Empire State Building and iconic department stores including Macy’s Herald Square are also within walking distance of the Manhattan cruise port.
The Brooklyn cruise port is a 15-minute drive from Brooklyn Bridge Park , which offers some of the best views of downtown Manhattan. If you're looking to stretch your legs, the walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan offers just over a mile of picturesque city viewpoints. While Bayonne, New Jersey may not be a huge tourist destination, sailing from Cape Liberty does provide a postcard-perfect look at the Manhattan skyline and its famous neighbor, the Statue of Liberty.

The short version of the story is that whether it’s a short island escape or the unforgettable journey of a lifetime you’re after, a cruise from New York will result in PTO well spent. Ahead, we've pulled some of your best options for cruising from New York City.
Viking offers ocean cruises between New York and Reykjavik in June, August, and September.
Trade the soaring skyscrapers of New York City for coastal Canada, remote Greenland, and endless Icelandic summer days. This Viking itinerary makes two stops in Canada and two stops in Greenland before circumnavigating Iceland, beginning with the remote Westfjords and ending in Reykjavik. Sail the same seas as legendary Norse explorer Leif Erikkson (on a far more luxurious Viking ship) while learning about the American Revolution and Canadian exploration from the cruise line’s resident historian. Lounge by the pool, visit the spa, or look out for whales and puffins. Viking has several nearly identical ocean ships sailing this itinerary from New York—each can accommodate a maximum of 930 passengers, allowing them to dock in ports larger ships cannot access.
It’s impossible to get bored on the MSC Meraviglia . See six Broadway-caliber shows over a 7-night cruise, spend sea days at the thermal spa or lounging by the pool, go bowling, play arcade games, try out an F1 simulator, or work out in a state-of-the-art gym—the opportunities are endless. MSC’s Meraviglia sails from New York to Bermuda, Canada, New England, the Bahamas, and Florida and can accommodate up to 5,642 passengers across 2,214 staterooms. Choose among 23 dining venues and 20 bars and lounges, or try to eat your way through all of them.
Norwegian Prima is one of the best cruises for solo travelers departing from New York City.
On most cruise lines, traveling solo means paying up to double the fare for a cabin to yourself, but not on the Norwegian Prima . This ship has a special area set aside for solo travelers with 73 studio suites and a private common area for mingling. Each of the Norwegian Prima’s 95-square-foot studio suites comes with a full-size bed, en suite bathroom, and a vanity table. And while space inside these studios are tight, you’ll likely be so busy go-karting, lounging by the pool, taking in shows, and relaxing in hot tubs, it’s unlikely you’ll find yourself spending much time in the room beyond catching some shut eye. The Norwegian Prima sails to Bermuda and the Caribbean from New York and offers a transatlantic repositioning itinerary.Best transatlantic cruise from New York
On Holland America's Volendam , embark on an unforgettable roundtrip journey from New York that includes a stop in the Azores and overnights in Rome, Cairo, and Istanbul. This 45-day journey on Holland America’s Volendam crosses the iconic Strait of Gibraltar and offers several sea days to enjoy the ship’s onboard amenities, which include a spa, swimming pools, and several restaurants. The Volendam accommodates just over 1,400 guests and is designed around grand public spaces. Dive deeper into destinations with regional cooking demonstrations as well as food and wine tastings. There’s no better way to travel in comfort and see the Statue of Liberty, Colosseum, Pyramids of Giza, and Hagia Sophia on a single trip.
Regent Seven Seas cruises are known for all-inclusive luxury.
Sample the best of the Caribbean in just 15 days on the Seven Seas Grandeur , one of the most luxurious ships at sea. This Regent Seven Seas cruise visits Bermuda, St. Barts, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Bonaire, Curacao, and Aruba en route to Miami. This cruise line is a favorite among retired travelers, and the Seven Seas Grandeur is the line’s most luxurious ship. There are 746 suites, a spa, a teaching kitchen, a casino, and Broadway-caliber entertainment onboard. Regent Seven Seas’ specialty is all-inclusive luxury, and it means it. Shore excursions, alcohol, specialty restaurants, and laundry are included in cruise fares, which start at around $8,400 for this itinerary.
Escape New York City and head straight to the pink beaches and turquoise waters of Bermuda on the Celebrity Eclipse . Spend two full nights in Bermuda and several days at sea—plenty of time to enjoy everything the Celebrity Eclipse has to offer. Play basketball, go shopping or spend your time at the casino, pools or spa. Or eat and drink your way across more than a dozen bars and restaurants, including an interactive Le Petit Chef dining experience. These seven-night roundtrip sailings depart from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, making it especially easy to combine a visit to the Statue of Liberty with your cruise.
Hop on the Seabourn Quest in October for an unforgettable journey through the colors of autumn. Spend a gorgeous fall day in Central Park before setting sail from New York to Montréal by way of Martha's Vineyard, Boston, Halifax, and Prince Edward Island on a 12-day itinerary along the eastern seaboard. This is a small ship that’s especially popular among North Americans, Europeans, and Australians, and a cruise line that’s beloved by foodies. Seabourn is known for its indulgent steaks, endless caviar, and partnership with award-winning chef Thomas Keller, who has a namesake restaurant on board.
In just 16 nights, sail from Manhattan to Bermuda, Portugal, Spain , the south of France, and Italy on the Norwegian Escape , a ship that accommodates just over 4,000 passengers and is sure to offer something for everyone. The Norwegian Escape offers several restaurants and lounges on board as well as Broadway shows, five multistory waterslides, and the largest ropes course at sea. On its Mediterranean sailing, the cruise stops in Lisbon , Malaga, Barcelona, Cannes, and Rome.

Moscow is a Volga River cruise port, Russia's capital and largest city (population over 12,2 million, metro 17 million). Moscow City covers a total area of approx 2610 km 2 (970 mi2). By population, the city is ranked the world's 14th largest. Moscow is one of the Russian Federation's all 3 federal cities - together with St Petersburg and Sevastopol .
Being Russian Federation's capital, Moscow is a major economic, political, scientific and cultural center, as well as Europe's biggest city.
According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the 9th most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to Globalization and World Cities Research Network. It is also one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world according to MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index. Moscow is the northernmost and the coldest megacity and metropolis on the Earth. It's home to Ostankino Tower, the tallest free-standing European structure; the Federation Tower, the tallest European skyscraper; and the Moscow International Business Center.
Moscow is situated on Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, which makes it the most populated inland city in the world. Moscow city is well known for architecture, particularly its historic buildings like Saint Basil's Cathedral. With over 40% of its territory covered by greenery, it's one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world. Moscow is the seat of power of the Russian Government, being the site of Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is now the residence of the President of Russia. Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are among the several World Heritage Sites in the city.
Moscow has 2 passenger terminals, North River Terminal (Rechnoy vokzal) and South River Terminal. The regular ship routes and cruises along Moskva and Oka rivers are used mostly for entertainment. North River Terminal (1937-built) is currently the main hub for long-range routes along the river. There are 3 freight ports that serve Moscow.
In late-July 2021 the city announced plans to incorporate a fleet (unspecified number) of fully electric passenger ferries into its public transportation network from summer 2022, the goal being to reduce the dependence on cars.
- The boats are designed with length ~22 m (72 ft), passenger capacity 42, modern amenities (Wi-Fi, USB charging points, tables for working commuters), spaces for storing scooters and bicycles.
- Moscow Transport confirmed that two routes (with max daily capacity ~16,000 passengers) have already been mapped out.
- Passengers will be able to pay via bank cards, the city’s Troika card (smart card for travel by any public transportation) or biometric payment cards. Those with monthly/yearly public transit tickets will use the boats at no extra cost.
- The new electric ferry service is up to 5 times faster (in comparison to other city public transports) and ~2 times faster than by car.
Moscow cruise terminal
Moscow's cruise terminal is called North River Terminal or River Station ("Rechnoy Vokzal" / "ÑеÑной вокзал").
The terminal was opened in 1937 and is one of 2 passenger terminals (the other being South River Terminal) of the city's river transport. North River Terminal is the main hub for long-range (including cruise) shipping routes.
South River Terminal (above photo) was opened in 1985.

6 Top Transatlantic Cruises for 2024
T ransatlantic cruises are unique when you compare them to traditional cruises most people book for family trips and romantic getaways. These voyages tend to be longer in general, and they have more built-in days at sea and offer a lot more time on board as a result. Repositioning cruises that include a transatlantic crossing tend to attract more retirees and travelers who just want to relax and enjoy their ships' amenities, especially since fewer days in port means fewer excursions and more time doing nothing at all.
That said, the fact that transatlantic cruises can last as few as seven nights means they may fit in your plans more easily than you may think. There are also some benefits to transatlantic crossings that may not be obvious, including lower nightly rates, more onboard credit, and more time to kick back and relax at a floating luxury resort in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
If you're curious which transatlantic cruises are best for 2024, here are six top picks with different cruise lengths, itineraries and unique destinations to explore.
Explore cruises on GoToSea , a service of U.S. News.
Cunard Line
Date: Departs May 5, 2024
Departure port: Brooklyn, New York
Starting price: $2,449 per person (plus port taxes and fees)
Cruise length: 7 to 18 nights
In May of 2024, Cunard's Queen Mary 2 vessel will offer three different transatlantic crossings of various lengths. Choose from a seven-night sailing from Brooklyn, New York , to Southampton, England; a nine-night sailing to Hamburg, Germany ; and an 18-night round-trip sailing that departs from Brooklyn and crosses the Atlantic twice on the way back to its starting point. This unique combination of itineraries lets you cross the sea and tailor your trip to how long you want to be away from home.
The 18-night itinerary is especially interesting, since it lets you depart from the United States and arrive back in Brooklyn in the end with stops in both England and Germany, as well as plenty of sea days in between. Luxury cruise line Cunard is known for its elegant design, lush amenities and upscale feel, and the Queen Mary 2 is one of the line's most luxurious ships. Highlights on this exclusive vessel include the Royal Court Theatre, a casino, gala evenings, an onboard spa and a vast library. The Queen Mary 2 holds up to 2,691 guests with 1,173 crew to cater to your every need.
Seabourn Cruise Line
Date: Departs March 24, 2024
Departure port: Miami
Starting price: $5,949 per person (plus port taxes and fees)
Cruise length: 21 nights
Seabourn is offering a 21-night transatlantic cruise from Miami on Seabourn Quest in March 2024 that offers a diverse range of ports of call before ending its voyage in Las Palmas in Spain's Canary Islands . Departure from Miami is followed by nine days at sea. Then, you'll enjoy multiple stops in the Canary Islands – including Santa Cruz de La Palma and San Sebastián de La Gomera – as well as stops in Praia and Mindelo the Cape Verde archipelago.
This journey with Seabourn makes it possible for travelers to see some of the most beautiful and remote tropical islands in the world. The Canary Islands are known for their white sand beaches , volcanoes and lush greenery; similar landscapes can also be found in Cape Verde's coastal towns and villages. Seabourn Quest, a smaller ocean vessel, accommodates just 229 guests.
MSC Cruises
Date: Departs Nov. 8, 2024
Departure port: Southampton, England
Starting price: $769 per person (plus port taxes and fees)
Cruise length: 16 nights
The MSC Virtuosa from MSC Cruises is repositioning from Europe to the Caribbean in November 2024, which gives travelers the chance to enjoy a lengthy transatlantic crossing with plenty of unique ports. This sailing departs from England with eight sea days plus stops in France, the Azores of Portugal, St. Maarten , Antigua and Barbuda, and Martinique . The ship ends its journey in Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe.
The MSC Virtuosa is a larger cruise vessel that boasts an impressive grand promenade with a LED dome ceiling, dedicated clubs for children and teens, an onboard spa, a lavish casino and the luxurious MSC Yacht Club section of the ship. This vessel holds a maximum of 6,334 passengers at once.

Princess Cruises
Date: Departs July 5, 2024
Departure port: New York City (Manhattan or Brooklyn)
Starting price: $4,098 per person (plus port taxes and fees)
Cruise length: 31 nights
Princess Cruises also offers its share of transatlantic sailings on various vessels. Its 31-night crossing from New York to Barcelona, Spain , on Island Princess in July 2024 is jam-packed with exciting destinations to explore. This lengthy transatlantic voyage has only 13 sea days with planned stops in Canada's Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, England, Spain, Portugal and Morocco before the journey ends in Barcelona.
This intriguing sailing experience with Princess takes passengers to eight different countries in the span of a month. Island Princess is a nice ship for a long sailing because of its smaller size, with just 2,200 passengers and 900 crew. But the ship is also large enough to have a huge selection of included and specialty dining options, a Vegas-style casino, a sports court, a large central atrium for gathering, and several pools and hot tubs to enjoy.
Celebrity Cruises
Date: Departs April 11, 2024
Departure port: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Starting price: $760 per person (plus port taxes and fees)
Cruise length: 12 nights
Celebrity Cruises is offering a 12-night sailing on Celebrity Equinox in April 2024 that starts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida , and ends in Lisbon, Portugal – making it possible for travelers to enjoy eight relaxing days at sea. What's interesting about this sailing is its stops along the way, which include the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda; Porta Delgada in Portugal's Azores archipelago; and Porto in mainland Portugal.
The Celebrity Equinox accommodates a maximum of just 2,852 passengers at once, so this Celebrity vessel is a solid choice for travelers who want just the right size ship instead of a smaller vessel or a megaship. There are also plenty of onboard features to keep you happy and entertained as you float across the Atlantic Ocean, including The Casino, The Lawn Club with outdoor games like bocce ball and croquet, The Martini Bar, the adults-only Solarium and more.
Royal Caribbean International
Dates: Departs Oct. 24, 2024
Departure port: Barcelona, Spain
Starting price: $876 per person (plus port taxes and fees)
Cruise length: 14 nights
Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas is hosting a transatlantic voyage in October 2024 that departs from Barcelona, Spain, and ends in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This vessel will make stops in Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Cartagena and Málaga in Spain, then spend eight days at sea. After that, enjoy a day in Nassau in the Bahamas before the cruise drops passengers off in sunny Florida.
Interior staterooms on this Royal Caribbean sailing start at just $876 per person (plus port taxes and fees), which works out to around $60 per night, per person. The Oasis of the Seas megaship can hold a total of 6,771 guests and 2,109 crew, so it's an enormous vessel – to put it mildly. This size may not be ideal for travelers who want a more intimate cruising experience, but it's perfect for cruisers who want plenty of space to spread out and endless activities to take part in. Oasis of the Seas boasts 20 different restaurants and cafes, 11 bars and lounges, a variety of pools and whirlpools, a rock climbing wall, the AquaTheater diving and entertainment venue, mini-golf, a casino and plenty more.
