After what felt like forever (3 years in reality) Slug and Ant dropped Southsiders, in what some considered a return to form after the slightly more reflective, mellow sounding The Family Sign and I'm sure I am not the only one who has this LP on heavy rotation since the release! I haven't seen Atmosphere live since the RSE European Tour and was chomping at the bit to finally get the chance to watch them do their thing at Koko London (one of my favourite venues) once again.

Of course, they didn't disappoint, there was no live band this time around just Slug, Ant, Plain Ole Bill and Us and the end result was beautiful. A set list which featured some of the classic Atmosphere we all come to expect, blended in with the hardest hitting beats Southsiders had to offer - Kanye West really getting the crowd up! One thing I love about Atmosphere and the whole RSE crew is the diversity within their audience, normally I am situated smack bang in the middle of a wave of merch-wearing-lunatics while we all rap our own version of GLU back at Slug, hoping he will invite us up for the big break we all want but this time my partner and I situated ourselves at the rear of the standing section with decent sight of the stage, plenty of space to breathe and the best view of one of the craziest audiences I've seen - the crazy couple who partied on the rear left hand side of the floor were the MVPs for me, CRAZY ENERGY!

Hip-hop nowadays is generally associated more with the younger generations but to see these 40+ year olds party even harder than me really personified what hip hop means in my heart! The highlight for me was the encore when the latest LPs title track dropped, the place erupted and I was sure the upper balcony was going to land on me before Slug even started the first verse, that coupled with the fact when he shouted "Let's hear it for Public Enemy!" I genuinely believed for a second I was going see Chuck and Flav grace us with their royal presence, only to finally click that he was referencing the sample. You can only dream right? In a nutshell, Slu and Ant deliver yet again with a passionate and organic account of themselves no less than what I've seen time and time again over the years, Plain Ole Bill is always welcome in my book too, dropping in some of the craziest cuts and loops all night to mix up the track.

As I said in my tweet to Koko post show, thank you Atmosphere and come back and party with us real soon. Love London

A special treat for me. Been a big fan since I stumbled upon them in 2005 and finally managed to get to one of their gigs. Solid album after solid album. Even as a latecomer, I still saw heaps of originality in their work and I'd even go as far to say that they changed my taste in music....probably forever. Their music oozes personality and touches topics that most hip hop artists wouldn't even consider. On top of that, Slug raps pretty damn well and Ant's beats continue to get better and better. Although I was a bit disappointed that they've stopped touring with a live band, it really didn't spoil anything. They've got a ridiculous catalogue of songs to choose for their set list and a dedicated fanbase that's going to be happy as long as one or two mainstay songs still make it in (which they did). In a bid to please the masses some songs made up medleys, while others were played in their entirety. I wont tell you what they played (why spoil the surprise) but they clearly tried to make it as big a mix as possible, covering songs from their most acclaimed albums, their early work and from some of the EPs that they put out to tide people over.. Slug has toured relentlessly for a good couple of decades now so he knows exactly how to work a crowd and how to enjoy himself on stage. It translates pretty well and pretty much lights the room up. Most of the crowd (including my own sad self) know the most of the words to most of the songs and duly follow Slug's lead throughout the gig. They've just dropped another gem of an album, so now is a great time to go see them. I can't see any reason why any fan would be disappointed (I got exactly what I'd been waiting for) and the £14 entrance fee should make them well worth a punt for anybody wanting to take a chance on them. A great energy on and off stage from one of the most influential duos in underground hip hop. Even though they've shown no signs of fizzling out, why take the risk? See them sooner rather than later :-)

The Hollywood Palladium Atmosphere show was AMAZING! I've personally seen Atmosphere before a couple years ago at the Greek Theatre but this recent experience beats them all. Everything played out perfectly that night, the venue was great, the crowd was up and the performers were all outstanding. Each performer gave it their all, Dem Atlas with his unique old school flow left me wanting more, PROF "the dirtiest m********* of the tour" as they claim had great energy and bad ass beats to follow his downright attitude and what can I say about the one and only Atmosphere, Slug is my #1 man so he never fails to impress me and regardless of his age he still has that swag that he's had throughout his entire career as an underground rapper. Oooh but this performance was one of a kind they performed a perfect balance of their new and old music and Murs as the surprise guest was just the cherry on top. But my favorite part of all was when Slug, Dem Atlas and Prof came out at the end to freestyle, all my life I've spent hours youtubing Slug's lfreestyles and never thought I'd be part of one, it was an absolute honor and overall the best night of my summer!

Atmosphere is my most favorite band out there right now. It is a musical trio, with slug on the mic with ANT, and Mr. Dibbs. The rap music that these three create is incredible and hits very close to home.

The lyrics are always about "the struggle" and how to keep your head up high in a time when its not so easy to do so. Atmosphere has gained such a large following in the underground scene.

When asked to join major music labels Atmosphere has refused in order to avoid selling out and making their fans mad. Atmosphere is about the music and sending positive vibes rather than the money and the corruption it brings.

When on the mic, Slug kicks it out of the park. He is never off beat or forgetful of his lyrics. You can literally hear the joy and passion in his voice when he raps, which is usually something rare with rappers now a days.

Overall, Atmosphere is the most genuine artist out there. They have and always will be about the music which is what drives this trio to victory. Do not miss these guys live! They are the best thing that has happened to music!

Positive vibes and hands swaying in the air. With lyrical rhymes that hit the heart all hands in the air. Dem Atlas and Prof getting the crowed ready with deep songs of reality. Getting pumped when Ant gets on stage then Slug walks out and everyone starts jumping. Small venues are always awesome when you're close and you can feel the music running through your body. Atmosphere laid the lyrics down and the audience was all one hand in the air. It's not that often where all the people around you introduce themself in a welcoming manner but this show everyone was about mad love. The ending was a huge kick when Dem Atlas and Prof joined Ant and Slug on stage. Woke up with a smile just thinking about the show and the vibes. I would love to see Atmosphere again. Atmosphere draws in a great group of all ages and types of people. Their music is about reality and just some seriousness some people faced. Realist hip hop.

A++++ Performance as expected! All of the performers were on point! Dem Atlas opened the show with his wild, crazy energy that everybody fed off. Brother Ali came on set with such an aura about him. I felt like we were all going to to church, but voluntarily. Not like back in the day when I was being forced. Lols. Brother Ali reminded us all to open our hearts, and enjoy the experience! Last, but never least...Atmosphere! Slug and Ant really out did themselves with this album. I'm in love with it! Please don't ever stop! Can't wait for you all to come back to Indianapolis! Xoxo, peace, love-The Brocks

Everyone who played killed it. Slug (from Atmosphere) had really cool hints as to what was coming up, sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious. And he is such a good lyricist, and Ant killed the beats. The Lioness is, in my opinion, the best female hip hop artist out right now. And Dem Atlas got the dance moves unlock. Unforgettable show. Everyone should see this guy at least once.

THIS IS WHAT AWAITS IN EUROPE

Towering castles. Untamed natural beauty. Captivating history. Can’t-miss cuisine. This is your time, your moment, your chance to discover Europe.

Destination Must-Sees

seville

The capital and largest city of Andalusian Spain is Seville. Approximately 2,200 years old, the early origins of the city date back to the year 712. It is situated along the Guadalquivir River, which splits the city into two halves. Seville is famous for being the birthplace of the Flamenco dance. It is also known for its culture, monuments, traditions and artistic heritage.

costa del sol

The Costa del Sol:

This “Sunny Coast” is the southernmost part of Spain, stretching along the Mediterranean Sea. Its major province is Málaga, the home of Picasso. To the far west part of the Costa del Sol is the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates the Mediterranean from the Atlantic. The sunny provinces of the Costa del Sol are known for their golden sandy beaches, fresh Mediterranean seafood and relaxing atmosphere.

Europe ms1

Irish countryside:

Take in the atmosphere of quaint seaside villages, see awe inspiring views of the Lakes of Killarney and explore the picturesque town of Kinsale. Wherever you travel in the countryside, you’ll find that the rolling hills and friendly people you encounter will become a part of your fabric.

Europe ms2

Ancient cities of Italy:

Italy is positively brimming with the world’s most famous Roman ruins like the Colosseum, Pompeii and many other relics from the ancient past. In fact, many cities in Italy still hold evidence of what once was. You can find an aqueduct, city gate, Roman theater or the ruins of an entire city there.

Destination Must-Dos

Spain md2

La Sagrada Familia:

Meaning the Holy Family, this modern structure is known as the church of the people, built by the people, with the money of the people. While it is not the cathedral of Barcelona, it is widely known due to its unique architecture and phenomenal design initiated by architect Antoni Gaudí. Work on the exploratory church began in 1882 and continues to this day, but with modern technology and the rising number of visitors and donations, the church’s completion date has rapidly become closer. The facades of the church are breathtaking in their intricate and artistic details, all of which were inspired by Gaudí.

Palace of Versailles France2022

The Palace of Versailles

The iconic Palace of Versailles (UNESCO) and its gardens reflect the extravagant tastes of King Louis XIV, the "Sun King." Alongside a local guide, learn the history and admire the various rooms of the State Apartments, including the Queen's bedchamber and the famous Hall of Mirrors. Be sure to explore the incredible gardens, some of the most famous in the world, which took over 40 years to complete and include intricate architecture, elaborate fountains, and gorgeous statues.

Europe md2

Drift down a canal:

While canals are found across Europe, nothing beats a romantic gondola ride in Venice. Locals like to say the best way to explore the city is to ‘get lost.’ So take a ride along these waterways, step off and then wind your way through the intricate blend of bridges, narrow streets and grand squares.

Spain md4

This was the first capital of Spain located about 43 miles south of Madrid. The history of Toledo dates back to the Roman occupation circa 192 B.C. The old city of Toledo sits atop of a small mountain surrounded on three sides by the Tagus River, and medieval walls on the fourth. From the top of the mountain you can get a 180 degree view of the surrounding landscape.

Magnificent landscapes combined with the country’s charming traditions and customs offer new experiences unlike anywhere else in the world. Famous for bullfighting, Spain allows you to grab life by the horns and dive into adventure. Whether it’s the eye-catching architecture of Madrid, the bold Spanish wines, or the shimmering Costa del Sol, this country remains a delight to the senses. Once you experience Spain, you’ll never want to leave and when you do, you’ll always be craving more.

A gem of the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal is a paradise. On the coasts, sun-soaked beaches meet breathtaking hillside towns all down the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. In the cities, ancient structures rise up shoulder-to-shoulder with modern living. Everywhere you turn, you can find mouth-watering food paired with delicious local wines, medieval architecture paired with Moorish artistic influence, and friendly locals paired with charming attitudes. No matter what you seek, when you go, where you look, or how long you stay, Portugal offers something for every traveler.

Whether it’s old-world traditions and wonderful culture, cuisine, history, fashion or natural beauty, Italy is special to many people for different reasons. Few other countries boast so many legendary cities. There are also many charming hill towns and coastal villages that showcase Italy’s amazing natural beauty. From the big cities to the small towns, there is always something exciting to see in Italy. With so many reasons to visit, the rest is up to you!

A rendezvous with a magnifique experience awaits! As cliché as it sounds, France truly has something for everyone. With over two dozen cities, each with their own nuances of the French culture and contributions to its history, architecture, art and last but not least, the gastronomical delights that the French are famous for throughout the world are yours to explore, experience and fall in love with during your stay. Coast to coast, border to border, there are seemingly endless variations on your French experience to be had. Rolling hills and scenic valleys lined with the fruit of the gods; seaside towns, along sandy beaches with views you just might be sharing with royalty; or maybe snowcapped mountain ranges providing some of the best skiing in the world and an adrenaline rush to match is what you seek. Whatever you decide, France easily makes you feel as if you have stepped out of reality and into the art you learned about and loved since you were a child.

At the heart of Europe, monumental contemporary and historic events shape today’s Germany. From the fall of the Berlin Wall to the rise of the Beatles in Hamburg, the culture of the country is marked by its influential past and present. Imagine yourself exploring postcard-worthy castles such as Neuschwanstein or wandering through medieval cities such as Regensburg. From the Bavarian Alps to the Rhine Gorge to the plains of the north, the range of Germany’s landscapes will capture your heart. Perhaps you’ll also indulge your taste buds as you sample the delicious Marzipan sweet treats of the Hanseatic port of Lubeck, which have been produced there for over 200 years. Whether on a journey on the ‘Romantic Road’ or cruising along the Rhine, know that a stein of German beer or a glass of wine from the Rhine vineyards are both a worthy compliment to a destination that offers far more than the average traveler anticipates.

Switzerland

Incredible skiing on the Swiss Alps and delectable Swiss chocolate are only two reasons for visiting Switzerland. Located between Austria, France, Germany and Italy, you can get quite a diverse European cultural experience depending on which region of Switzerland you choose. And though the food, music, art and people themselves are very much influenced by their European neighbors, they are all still uniquely Swiss. You will leave with plenty of memories to savor for a lifetime.

The best trip ever. Very well paced and you literally get to see everything.
Inconsistency. You where not upto date with travel directions & changes. You did not deduct gratuities as indicated. I think it best to go direct with the company & not a 3rd party. This way one gets a better idea of the extra costs involved. BUT thank you for enlightenment & I did have a great trip.

Hotels had dead cockroaches lying around, guide was sweet but not experienced at creating a cohesive group feel. On top of which, the credit that GAdventures gave me to compensate for the mediocrity of the trip expired in 6 months - even the airlines give you a year! And some trips have no option to have a private room (yes, I';m willing to pay extra for that).
Great attention to detail. Enthusiast tour leader. Loved the adventure!

Nice tour of Madrid, Zaragoza, Poblet and Barcelona
Couple of days ago, the Turkey Panoramic tour ended. In my view, it should be offered for at least 12 days. There are interesting places that need at least 2 nights to absorb the tradition and food. Even though, most hotels were listed as 4-5 stars, I was not impressed by their service and quality. Both tour guide and driver were at all times very professional. Emphasis should be placed on not allowing passengers to carry more than one piece of luggage. At the end of the trip, a group of 7 people joined, they were carrying 2-3 pieces per person, which made it difficult to pack the minivan. I suggest charge X-tra for the second piece of luggage to prevent people to do so. Overall, trip was full of adventure and like the title says, it was very Panoramic.

A tour for the traveller rather than tourist. A lot of wasted time waiting for local guide sometimes 2hours. No advice on places to see, etc. Quality of hotels satisfactory as they varied such a lot and I like simple. Tour itinerary was very good and enjoyed the experience.
The highlights for me were Musala Peak, Rila Lakes, and Vihren peak. Our guide, Boryana, was positive, good at organising and planning everything and took care of our safety, she had an amazing attention to detail. The accommodationn was good, all very welcoming places, friendly staff and homely set up. I would have loved more detailed and accurate day to day itinerary, and to be handed a hard copy version in person when arriving. I had a very unpleasant exprience with the arrival transfer with the taxi - the driver was rude and I felt unsafe travelling at such speedd. Boryans's driving on the other hand was excellent, she was always keeping us informed about the journey ahead and provided local kowledge en route, always offering comfort brakes.

Globus

Terrible customer service. Globus forgot to include airfare and then were never going to book it until I brought it to their attention. Then they refused to let me speak to anyone in management. These people will ruin your vacation.
The tour guide Angel was excellent. The tour was well structured and I liked how the optional tours were offered, so you could rest or continue exploring depending on what you wanted. The tour group was larger than I would have liked (41 people) but the tour was very well organized regardless of this

Choose Balkans

Wonderful tour. Our guides, Marko and Alfred, were amazing. The accommodations were good and the itinerary was paced perfectly. We saw a staggering number of places but it didn’t feel too fast. The Balkans are beautiful and each country looks and feels different from the others. It was definitely worth it.
We thoroughly our trip. Everything was seamless. Hotels were nice (especially the one in Shkodër). Ohrid, Tirana, Belgrade, Kotor, Berat, Niš, Pizren, Mostar, Sarajevo, and more. The planned stops were amazing. We enjoyed it tremendously and learned a lot along the way. Alfred, our guide, was wonderful. We can’t say enough about how pleasant he made the journey. He’s knowledgeable, kind, and always accessible. I am certain we will keep in touch. The staff from Choose Balkans was always accessible and easy to communicate with via WhatsApp. They checked in routinely. This trip (or any in the Balkans) will be unforgettable. The landscapes and stunning, the people are nice, the food is good, and the time of year we went was perfect (mostly devoid of other tourists), which we loved. Highly recommend Choose Balkans and Alfred. Great team!

Contiki

Best trip with awesome people!
Our tour manager Beck was amazing and has gone above and beyond her duties to make sure everyone was taken cared of and is having a very good experience! In the same way, our driver Tiago was great! The itineraries were very packed, as expected but Beck and Tiago have been amazing at making sure we still get the best experiences despite the very little time. Overall, joining this trip will allow you to see a lot of beautiful European places, have amazing photographs, and have good experiences without putting a huge dent in your wallet. With all these amazing things that I have to say, I have to put warnings here for people for them to know whether or not this is the right trip for them. First, this is a budget trip. Therefore, please do not expect the accommodations to be fantastic. The accommodations were functional but not with any wow factor. Next, Contiki caters to a predominantly to young travelers. If you are not heavy on partying, you may want to reconsider! Nobody forces you to party and tour managers will in fact arranged ways to get you back to the accommodations if you decide not to join nightly scheduled parties. However, even a lot of included and add-on meals involves a lot of heavy alcohol drinking. A lot of included and add-on meals are only okay at best. Do not expect amazing gourmet experience but do expect unlimited alcohol servings! Lastly, Contiki is an Australian company. Therefore, expect experiences to be catered to Australian culture. If you are an American or any nationality who values your quality personal space and personal time, this will not be the right trip for you!

Trafalgar

  • Excellent - 1,873 reviews for Europe tours
BEWARE! Do not book unless the tour is absolutely confirmed. They will lie about the timeline they will confirm just to get your final payment. I was told I would know about confirmation about our tour in about a week after I mad the final payment. After two weeks of not hearing anything and contacting them, I was told there would be no decision until 60-45 days before the trip and there was not a refund until that time. When I asked about the incorrect information I was given (the LIE), I was told they were "sorry" and that their hands were tied. I do not trust this company and I wish I had not gone with them
So we were scheduled to travel March, Has a family emergency, saved 9 yr old from drug house. Call Trafalgar 2 times to change either cancel or reschedule. In the end i lost complete amount of trip, They stated to get in touch with the travel insurance company, which they provided in their email. They were as big a joke as Trafalgar, rejected claim BEFORE i could get paperwork in they asked for.. Unbelievable experience. And as info, you wont see negative reviews, they delete who does so. SCAMMERS and cheats. Trafalgar- yes the girl is recovering!

I very much enjoyed seeing the beautiful Croatian coastline. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and seemed to have a real love for his country. My main criticism was that there were frequent incidents where things such as guides in the different areas were not included in the tour, so it felt like we were often paying for services that I would have thought would be part of the overall tour. I would have preferred to have paid more money up front than to have had the frequent requests for additional money.
The six of us enjoyed an excellent stay in the multicity tour and would gladly tour again with this company.

There was the largest December snow in 90 years just before we a. It made getting there a little difficult but well worth it! Our carriage ride was magical. Greg made it even more special. He was so attentive to everyone’s needs and abilities. Never rushing anyone. Not to mention his surprises every time we got back on the bus. Starting each day with “Louie Armstrongs it’s a wonderful world. We all would sing along. We became friends instantly and felt like family within just a few days together. I highly recommend Greg as a tour guide he really added to the experience. The atmosphere he created by showing us all how much he truly cared for each of us. He is an exceptional person and I for one feel that the trip would have not been the same without him!!!!!
Great variety of markets. Well organised and Greg was very helpful when I had a bit of a mobility issue.

Half of the world Europa, with brownish streaks on its surface, emerging from shadow.

An Ocean Moon Thought to Be Habitable May Be Oxygen-Starved

A new study suggests that the amount of the element on the moon of Jupiter is on the lower end of previous estimates.

Under its bright, frosty shell, Jupiter’s moon Europa is thought to harbor a salty ocean, making it a world that might be one of the most habitable places in our solar system.

But most life as we know it needs oxygen. And it’s an open question whether Europa’s ocean has it.

Now, astronomers have nailed down how much of the molecule gets made at the icy moon’s surface, which could be a source of oxygen for the waters below. Using data from NASA’s Juno mission , the results , published on Monday in the journal Nature Astronomy, suggest that the frozen world generates less oxygen than some astronomers may have hoped for.

“It’s on the lower end of what we would expect,” said Jamey Szalay, a plasma physicist at Princeton University who led the study. But “it’s not totally prohibitive” for habitability, he added.

On Earth, the photosynthesis of plants, plankton and bacteria pump oxygen into the atmosphere. But the process works differently on Europa. Charged particles from space bombard the moon’s icy crust, breaking down frozen water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules.

“The ice shell is like Europa’s lung,” Dr. Szalay said. “The surface — which is the same surface that protects the ocean underneath from harmful radiation — is, in a sense, breathing.”

Astronomers speculate that this oxygen might move into Europa’s watery underworld. If so, it could mix with volcanic material from the seafloor, creating “a chemical soup that may end up making life,” said Fran Bagenal, a planetary scientist at the University of Colorado Boulder.

The Juno orbiter, which launched in 2011 to discover what lies beneath Jupiter’s thick veil of clouds, is now on an extended mission exploring the planet’s rings and moons . Aboard the vehicle is an instrument called JADE, short for Jovian Auroral Distributions Experiment. Dr. Szalay’s team studied data collected by JADE as Juno flew through the plasma engulfing Europa .

But they weren’t directly looking for oxygen — they were counting hydrogen. Because the molecule is so light, all of the hydrogen produced at Europa’s surface floats high into the atmosphere. Oxygen, which is heavier, is more likely to hang lower or remain trapped in the ice.

But both molecules come from the same source: broken down frozen H₂O.

A cracked pattern of ice on Europa’s surface.

“And so if we measure the hydrogen, we have a direct line to determine how much oxygen is produced,” Dr. Szalay said.

The team found that about 13 to 40 pounds of oxygen is generated each second by Europa’s surface. That’s over 1,000 tons per day, about enough to fill the Dallas Cowboys football stadium 100 times a year.

While earlier studies reported widely varying ranges up to 2,245 pounds per second, this result shows the higher end of that range was unlikely. But according to Dr. Bagenal, this doesn’t necessarily harm Europa’s potential for habitability.

“We don’t really know how much oxygen you need to make life,” she said. “So the fact that it’s lower than some earlier, wishful-thinking estimates is not such a problem.”

Studying Europa’s atmosphere is “an important puzzle piece in learning about the moon as a system,” said Carl Schmidt, a planetary scientist at Boston University who was not involved in the work.

But the findings only confirm the amount of oxygen born in the ice. The study doesn’t reveal how much of the molecule gets lost to the atmosphere, or how it might permeate the ice to enrich the ocean below.

In other words, Dr. Schmidt said, “we still have no idea just how much is going down as opposed to going up.”

Juno won’t make any more close flybys of the global water world, but next-generation missions specifically designed to study Europa might find more answers. The European Space Agency’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer , expected to arrive at the Jovian system in 2031, aims to confirm the existence and size of Europa’s ocean. And NASA’s Europa Clipper , scheduled to launch in October, will investigate how the moon’s icy shell interacts with the water below.

For now, astronomers have their hands full with data from Juno. Though the flyby lasted only a few minutes, it was the first time the composition of plasma near Europa’s atmosphere was directly measured.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Dr. Szalay said. “For many years, we’re going to be digging through just this one flyby to find all the treasure.”
