Superstar-Cellist und Mitgründer von 2CELLOS, Stjepan Hauser, bekannt als HAUSER, kündigt seine erste Solo-Tour rund um den Globus an. Erst vor kurzem hat er die finale Weltreise mit seinem Freund Luka Sulic absolviert und damit die langjährige, erfolgreiche Kollaboration beendet, die das Duo 2CELLOS in höchste Höhen katapultiert hat.

Jetzt konzentrieren sich die beiden wieder auf ihre eigenen Projekte, was im Fall von HAUSER bedeutet: Ein   neues Solo-Album mit   dem Titel „The Player“ veröffentlichen und auf seine erste internationale Solo-Tour unter dem Motto „Rebel with a Cello“ zu gehen. Die Tour führt HAUSER im Herbst 2023 nach Deutschland, wo er mit seiner spektakulären Show in den großen Hallen in München, Berlin, Oberhausen und Hamburg live zu erleben sein wird.  Der Meister-Cellist und Multimediaperformer hat dafür eine ganz besondere Show voller Lichteffekte und Pyrotechnik entworfen, um die Musik und seinen ganz eigenen Stil eindrucksvoll in Szene zu setzen. Die Auftritte bestehen aus drei Teilen, die der musikalischen Entwicklung des kroatischen Künstlers entsprechen. Da ist zunächst der klassische Part mit Kompositionen von Tschaikowski, Bach, Mozart oder Puccini. Denn HAUSER ist zuallererst ein fantastischer Instrumentalist, der vor seiner zweiten Karriere auf höchstem Niveau klassische Musik gespielt hat und diese nun in ein modernes Gewand überträgt. Das ist auch die Grundlage seiner überaus erfolgreichen YouTube-Serie „Alone Together“ gewesen, einer üppigen Produktion, in der er während der Corona-Zeit seine Songs vor den schönsten Plätzen seiner Heimat vorgetragen hat. Da ist im zweiten Teil aber auch der rebellische Rocker, der mit 2CELLOS Metal und Rock gespielt hat und seit jüngstem der Player, der auf seinem aktuellen Album Dance-Tracks von Shakira, Gloria Estefan, Michael Bublé oder Madonna neu für sein Instrument und Orchester arrangiert und damit seine populäre „Beach Party“ anheizt. 

Der Virtuose spielt meisterhaft mit allen Stilen und schafft bei seinen Konzerten eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre, die magisch und berührend zugleich ist: Die Musik von HAUSER verzaubert und animiert das Publikum reihenweise sowohl zum Headbangen als auch zum Hüftschwung.

2Cellos are a classical crossover duo hailing from Zagreb, Croatia who formed in 2011. Since their debut in the same year, they have released three studio albums and are best known for their covers of artists like U2, AC/DC and, most famously, Michael Jackson.

2Cellos are what you get when the skill of classical music meets the passion of classic rock and pop. The duo are made up of two cellists, both of whom have received some of the best tuition in the world. Hailing from Slovenia originally, Luka Šulić attended Zagreb’s Academy of Music before going on to study in Vienna, and the Croatian native Stjepan Hauser studied at the Royal Academy Of Music and Trinity College in London. The two of them met at a master class in Croatia when they were teenagers and stayed in touch, mostly due to their shared passions for all forms of music, classical and mainstream. As they began hanging out together more and more, they began planning a project to cover mainstream pop songs on two cellos and nothing else.

Their first cover was Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”, so the duo filmed themselves playing their reworking of it and put it on YouTube in December 2010. Within three weeks the cover had been viewed three million times and their profile skyrocketed, leading to an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, a record contract with Sony Masterworks and a slot performing with Elton John’s band on his 2011 world tour. Ever since then the band have been one of the most popular classical crossover acts in recent memory, with their second album “In2ition” hitting number one in the Croation and Japanese album charts. They’re truly unique, and it’ll be a long time before we see their likes again, for that, they come highly recommended.

Live reviews

I only have one word for the 2cellos performance that I saw, incredible. The duo walked out onstage with their electronic cellos, and sat down humbly, before the lighting went down, and they launched straight into Thunderstruck. They are both incredibly talented musicians, and also wonderful performers. The way that they’re invested in their instruments, is like they’re an extension of their limbs, not an external object they’re playing. As well as their mastering of their instruments, they were putting their arms in the air to get the audience clapping along, and both cellists, and the incredible drummer performed solos throughout the performance.

Witnessing a classical instrument being played in an electronic version with strobe lights, a live drum kit, and projections of their videos behind them will definitely change your opinion of classical music, and the fine line between it and it’s place in popular culture. Both guys gave an incredible performance, and the way that Luca would leave his stool and dance, and lie on the floor with his instrument, rocking out to their cello rock music was incredible. They played a great selection of tracks from both their self titled album, and the newest LP, In2ition, which was incredible to hear live. They had the audience on board from start to finish, and it was hands down one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

Report as inappropriate

I was doubting if I would go or not to see 2Cellos. I got a first row ticket at Friedrichstadtpalast so I decided to go.

The concert was OK, not great. In fact, I went prepared to feel disappointed but not that bad. When some time ago the band went electronic, in my opinion, it lost what made them special and different: to play famous electric tunes with acoustic cellos.

Don't get me wrong, the sound was great and it was fun, and this guys are charming and talented players, but I could listen something like this from any busker on Mauerpark playing with an electric cello connected to a loophole.

And for that priced I paid (59eur, first row), it was disappointing that they used a pre-recorded string support, I could accept that from a cheaper concert, very understandable, and I know that they played before with a real support of string players, so for such high price I was expecting something at least similar, I could as well just bought the CDs. I will never go again to see them

Get show! There was a wonderful build of energy and incredible virtuosity. Their personalities keep the show fun and engaging. I was expecting them to have more of a band with them but in the end I didn't miss it. They do a masterful job of looping their cellos without you even noticing and the overall effect gives such a full sounds that you are certain there must be a multitude of other musicians behind the scenes. The lighting and video work took advantage of the large stage which otherwise could have felt a little bare with just two instruments. The addition of the drummer helped elevate the energy in the middle section of the show. My only slight complaint is that the show feels a little "macho" at times (for lack of a better word.) Perhaps a kickass feel male drummer would have helped that but regardless, it is a minor point. Lastly, the opener, Jon McLaughlin, was an awesome surprise. He is really talent and charming and kicked the show off perfectly.

2 cellos was the most amazing experience in classical/rock music I've ever experienced.

It was fun, beautiful, engaging, and relaxed.

They want people to feel relaxed, sing along. Clap, they engage their audience and have a lot of fun.

Best concert experience I have ever been too and I've been to a lot! I can't wait until they return next year.

I gave this as an 18th birthday present to my daughter. Her very first steps into a classical music venue. She absolutely loved it. She has a memory that will always carry with her.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had an incredible experience at this concert, this was one of my biggest dreams come true! I got to stand right in front of the stage!!!! front and center. Close enough for Luka to reach down and hand me his bow hairs that he had shredded off from playing so fantastically. Stjepan was incredibly energetic, running around stage and making faces at everyone the whole time. The accompanying orchestra was amazing and played so elegantly while playing the movie scores. And the energy was just exciting the whole time. I am so glad I was able to experience this! Thank You 2Cellos! You are my idols!

The audience makes or breaks a show. In this case, the audience was older and not super into standing up, dancing around or clapping along when prompted. Despite low participation, they put on really high quality and moving show. Luka, the one in the right in the picture seemed to have less energy than usual but the other guy made up for it with his flirty banter. Overall, a good time but not the best show I've been to.

The show was great! The guys performed exemplary. The addition of a small strings ensemble was a great addition for the slow part.

The atmosphere was really hot! Throughout more than half of the concert everybody was standing, even though the venue had seats.

PS: Stjepan was acting a little bit weird at times (like a puppy in heat), but nothing exaggerate.

Very Awesome show. Our first time seeing them. Also love the Mann - they have a really good sound system.

2Cellos had a full backing band/orchestra - which gave them an over the top sound/show. Loved every song they played - even the ones that I did not know.

Wish they would have played bit longer..

These guys are so good. Funny that the main thing that comes to mind is "original" even though their repertoire is songs of a diverse group of other musicians.

Wie soll man solch ein Konzert beschreiben? Einfach nur faszinierend was die beiden aus einem Cello rausholen.....sehr gut arrangierte Pop-u. Rockstücke gepaart mit einer schönen Lichtshow u. eine äußerst sympathische Darbietung. Danke für diesen besonderen Abend !!

Einfach nur geil !!! Das Konzert geht zwar nicht so lange wir von andere Künstlern gewohnt aber das was die zwei (drei) leisten kein Wunder! Klassik und Metall vereint... einfach fantastisch ❤️

Vorsicht Abzocke!

In Kürze: kaum 90 Min., große Teile des Konzerts nicht live gespielt, Akustik war eine Katastrophe: Cellos hörte man am wenigsten. Ich bin zutiefst enttäuscht. Wenn man 2cellos hören will, sollte man YouTube bemühen oder nach Kroatien fahren - dort lässt sich das heimische Publikum so etwas nicht bieten. Thunderstruck in dieser Version kann man wohl gar nicht live mit nur zwei Cellos spielen. Zumindest ist keine Version auf YouTube live und das in Dresden war pure Verarschung. Ich glaube gerne, dass die beiden Cello spielen können, es gibt ein Paar gute Performances auf YouTube. Auf dem Konzert waren gerade mal 20 Minuten Cellos zu hören. Der Rest war entweder Playback oder von langbeinigen Streicherinnen so übertönt, dass es mit den Cellos nicht zu tun hatte. Unter dem Strich wäre ich, wenn ich die Karten nicht selbst bezahlt hätte, eher belustigt über die Tatsache wie zwei eigentlich ganz gute Musiker, über YouTube zu unverhoffter Popularität gekommen, ihr unbedarftes Publikum an der Nase herumführen. Statt es zu eduzieren. Und noch ein kroatisches Sprichwort, die beiden würden es ja verstehen: Warum leckt sich der Hund am Arsch? Weil er es kann!

Following the 2021 release of their sixth full-length album Dedicated , 2CELLOS today debut DEDICATED (EXTENDED EDITION), featuring three brand new bonus tracks, via Sony Music Masterworks. Celebrating the group’s momentous 10-year-anniversary, Dedicated has now been reissued with three new covers that find the duo of Luka Šulić and HAUSER once again showcasing their signature boundary-breaking playing style. For the extended version, they take on Ed Sheeran’s wistfully beautiful “Castle on the Hill,” The Beatles’ moving ballad “Yesterday” and Linkin Park’s slow-building epic “Castle of Glass” – listen here .  Making its debut today alongside the extended album is 2CELLOS’ new video for “Castle on the Hill,” featuring the duo performing the track amongst gorgeous scenery near Trieste, Italy – watch here .  The extended album arrives just ahead of the Croatian duo’s long-awaited return to the stage, as they now gear up to take the album on the road next month for their final tour together as 2CELLOS. Following a brief hiatus for 2CELLOS, which found both Luka and HAUSER using the opportunity to build on their accomplishments by each releasing their own debut solo albums, the duo linked up again in the studio amidst the 2020 global pandemic to reimagine the pop anthems and timeless rock staples that encompass the ten tracks on Dedicated. Armed with the momentum from his last and final sold-out 2CELLOS tour, the superstar cellist and visual artist is launching the ultimate musical, showcasing his signature performance pyrotechnics alongside his romantic and soulful, playing sound and style.
