Discover downtown Winston-Salem on a Segway PT

Welcome to your own unique two-hour downtown discovery experience through Old Salem and then throughout the historic revitalized areas of downtown Winston-Salem! This narrated glide begins with hands-on safety training indoors and then moves onto the Greenway for group practice. We then explore super cool areas of our downtown that have been key to the consequences of our great city recognizing many of its historic and restored buildings, combined with the vibrant new aspects of town…some unknown to many.

Every Triad ECO Adventures Segway PT glide includes a thorough Segway PT video orientation and one-on-one training on the flat ground, indoors. Guests are welcome to bring their own bicycle helmet (or a Nutcase brand will be provided) to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun adventure. Remember to also consider bringing a water bottle and your camera to capture all the great photo ops around town.

Segway PT tours can accommodate two gliders between ages 10-13 utilizing a NineBot Segway PT unit (minimum height 4’6″ and minimum weight 45 lbs). Otherwise, all other gliders are required to be at least 14 years of age. Anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent and have a parent sign the waiver. Gliders must be between 100 and 260 lbs to ride the Segway PT and of a height able to adequately balance the adjustable handle.

• Wear comfortable flat, closed-toe shoes such as sneakers/tennis shoes. Gliders cannot wear high heels or open-toed shoes
• Pregnant women or anyone suffering from vertigo (or on medication affecting their balance or good judgment) are not allowed to ride Segway PTs for safety reasons

Segway rentals move to the ocean city boardwalk, douglas bergen , patch staff.

The operator of a company offering Segway tours of the new Route 52 causeway is now renting the two-wheeled, electric vehicles on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Jennifer Waters Dahl, owner of Somers Point Bridge Tours LLC, started offering Segway rentals on a trial basis Thursday (Oct. 3) from the Bob's Grill bicycle rental location at 14th Street and Boardwalk. The Segways offer an easy way for anybody with physical limitations or an adventurous spirit to tour the boardwalk. But as with the tours of the pedestrian path on the causeway between Somers Point and Ocean City, the addition of powered vehicles to an already chaotic mix of bicycles and pedestrians may draw its detractors. On Thursday, customers were offered instruction on operating the Segways and 90 minutes of rental time for $40. Anybody interested in reserving a rental or learning more can call 609-432-3176. Renters must weigh at least 100 pounds and not more than 265 pounds and be at least 16 years old. Helmets are required and provided (and sanitized after each tour).The company is fully insured, according to Dahl. The vehicles have a maximum speed of 12 mph, a zero turn-radius and a short stopping distance, she said. A local ordinance prohibits the use of motorized vehicles on the beach and boardwalk (except by permit for fishing), according to Ocean City Police Capt. Steve Ang. Another ordinance prohibits the rental of motor scooters, motor bikes and motorcycles (along with minibikes, go-carts, swamp buggies and snowmobiles). But a state law (39:4-14.10) specifically states that "electric personal assistive mobility devices" (including the Segway-brand devices) "shall not be considered a motorized wheelchair, motorized bicycle, motorcycle, motorized scooter, motorized skateboard, vehicle or motor vehicle." ( See full text of the law .) "An electric personal assistive mobility device may be operated on the public highways, sidewalks and bicycle paths of the State," according to the statute.

The law says the operator of such a device should be given the rights of a bicyclist.

Ang said the police department is still interpreting the ordinances and state law, and consulting with the city administration.

The Garage OTR – Home of Segway of Cincinnati & Spring Grove Cemetery are again teaming up to provide a unique experience touring beautiful and historic Spring Grove Cemetery and Botanical Gardens. We offer two unique experiences; a self guided ride on a Segway PT or a guided tour on a Segway PT.

Spring Grove Cemetery Guided Segway Tour

Any available Segway PTs not reserved for the guided tour will be available for rental will be available each week for rental as well.

The Garage OTR staff will provide 15-20 minutes of training on-site before the 90 minute glide of the cemetery grounds. Members of The Garage OTR Staff will accompany your group past highlights of the cemetery grounds.

Our newly revised route will share interesting facts about significant Cincinnati residents, notable monuments & memorials, as well as the past and future of the cemetery and botanical gardens.

Helmets are provided (you can also bring your own). Reservations are required. This tour is limited and fills up quickly.

On this tour, riders get a survey of Cincinnati’s Center City neighborhoods, such as The Banks, Downtown, Over-The-Rhine and Pendleton.

This route is a highlight of Cincinnati’s beautiful Riverfront. Riders glide through the Central Business District from our showroom; using Eggleston Blvd as a connector to Sawyer Point.

Your guide will glide you through Bi-Cenntennial Commons at Sawyer Point; historic Yeatman’s Cove featuring the Serpentine Wall; and the stunning Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park with all its glorious sculpture.

The glide is capped with a ride across the mighty Ohio River on the Purple People Bridge into Northern Kentucky and back!

Who can participate in a Segway PT tour?

The State of Ohio requires that riders be at least 14 years of age to take a Segway PT tour. A rider that is 14-17 years of age must have a parent/guardian signature to take a tour.

• The rider must be between 100 and 260 lbs. (45 to 117 kg.)
• The rider must be able to step on and off the Segway PT without assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without the support of a handrail or other walking aid.

On-street metered parking is available.  Hours Of Enforcement in Downtown & Over-the-Rhine are  9 a.m. to 9 p.m.   Monday  through  Saturday , and  2 p.m. to 9 p.m.   Sunday . Rates are posted on each meter and vary by location, so please check the meter.

We are not responsible for expired parking meters and/or parking violations.

WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY:

WE   reserve the right to cancel the tour if we deem necessary due to weather conditions no later than one hour before departure on cell # provided at time of reservation.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations must be called in to our office at (513)225-1583,  email cancellations are not accepted.

• You have until 48 hours before your scheduled tour time to cancel or reschedule for any reason.
• After this time you are committed to the tour and will be charged full price of the tour for each individual not in attendance on the credit card used to hold the reservation.
• If gift certificates, or vouchers are used to hold the reservation they will lose half of their value.
