THERE are many reasons why Majorca remains one of the most popular holiday hotspots for Brits.

More than 300 days of sunshine, hundreds of beaches and stunning resorts to stay at - it's easy to see why UK holidaymakers flock there every year.

And with the hotspot on our TV screens once again ahead of the new Love Island season , we've rounded up all the amazing things you can do on the island - and the best places to stay courtesy of Travel Republic.

Beach clubs

A visit to Majorca isn't complete without a cheeky cocktail by the swimming pool.

One of the oldest beach clubs on the island is the Beach Club Gran Folies, which first opened more than 40 years ago although has obviously undergone renovations ever since.

But you aren't short of choice.

There is Oean's Beach Club, home to some of the biggest pool parties, or Anima Beach Club which has some of the best sunsets right on the seafront.

World-famous Nikki Beach is ideal for celeb spotting, or for a new place to party, head to Cotton Clubs which opened last summer.

If you fancy some culture, then you'll find it in abundance in the capital city of Palma de Mallorca.

Along with bars and restaurants, it is also home to Catedral de Mallorca, which was remodelled by the famous architect Gaudi more than 100 years ago.

You can opt for a boat trip, where you can drink, snorkel and go paddle boarding on a private yacht, or test your nerves with quad bike tours, cliff diving experiences and jet skiing trips.

Ilusion Moreyo , Cala Bona

The 4* Ilusion Moreyo is tucked away in the northeast of the island in the resort town of Cala Bona.

DO NOT BOOK A HOLIDAY WITH TRAVEL REPUBLIC

because if your holiday goes wrong Travel Republic will NOT take any responsibility!

We booked an all inclusive holiday with Travel Republic to Egypt. When we landed in Egypt our Hotel Transfer that was prepaid never showed up and their phone number that was provided did not exist so we had to pay for a taxi to our accommodation. On our arrival at the hotel Tropital Naama Bay we were informed that the travel agent had only booked us in for B&B and not the all inclusive that we had already paid for. When we contacted Travel Republic via mobile phone re. the situation we were told that they would solve our problem within two hours but heard nothing after so the hotel agreed to contact Travel Republic on our behalf. We also mailed the travel agent and waited for a reply.

After numerous emails we were informed that Travel Republic was not able to help us out while we were on holidays but were told to keep all our receipts so we would be able to ask for compensation on our return:

(Thank you for your communications regarding your travel arrangements. We are always disappointed when a customer feels less than fully satisfied with the service received. I am sending you a link to submit your formal complaint when you return from your holidays. The link supplied will not be able to be accessed until your return date. Customer Relation Team won’t be able to action your request whilst you are on holiday. If you still require any further assistance whilst you are on holidays, please feel free to advise me and I will be pleased to assist).

I was not happy with this arrangement so asked again for the hotel to contact Travel Republic – I do not understand how a Travel Agent is not able to help their customer during their holiday, is that not part of their job description?!

It took 5 days for a Reception member of staff to finally get a “solution” from Travel Republic which was to make us pay the difference between the B&B and the All Inclusive rate. At this stage the hotel reception staff felt so sorry for us that they let us pay half of the All Inclusive rate and they would try to recover the other half from the travel agent so we agreed to pay the €260.

Due to all the stress caused during the holiday I asked Travel Republic to refund half the total cost of the holiday (approximately €800, allowing for the costs we incurred: €260 we paid the hotel, €30 for airport transfers and a mobile phone bill of €40, it was only an additional €470 which I felt was reasonable compensation). After almost a 4 week wait they informed us that we would not be compensated at all, not even the additional money we had to pay ourselves!!

(I am sorry we have been unable to resolve your concerns to your complete satisfaction and I once again hope you understand our position. Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us here at Travel Republic we value all customer feedback).

We then decided to take the case to ABTA (The UK’s largest travel association, representing travel agents and tour operators) thinking that we would get the compensation owed but after opening the case we received the following from Travel Republic:

IF YOU BOOK A HOLIDAY WITH TRAVEL REPUBLIC AND SOMETHING GOES WRONG TRAVEL REPUBLIC WILL CLAIM THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE!

Did your holiday confirmation paperwork state you booked AI rather than BB?

Same here. I have booked with them for 8 out of my last 10 holidays and never had a problem. If i’ve had a query I have always found them very helpful. I always book on line rather than over the phone so I can what is being booked as I go through the process. :)

Unfortunately, in many businesses, sales calls will get answered quicker than administrative calls.

Try calling again at quieter times. First thing in the morning for example.

We always use travel republic, never had any issues.

Does anyone have an email address for www.travelrepublic.co.uk?

Their contacts page only gives a phone number that has proved less than useful.

Many thanks for any help.

If youve already booked you can log into your booking and raise a customer services request from there. They dont give out a general address.

Thanks - we have already done that with no effect!

Our problem is with a complaint about a past booking not a current one.

Sorry I don't have an e-mail address. I have my papers for 6 previous bookings with TR and nowhere is there an e-mail address. You need to use their website and your Booking Ref /My Booking I think. I know contact must be possible as I had to cancel a booking in October to organise a refund (80%) which went through no probs.
