Frasers Group opens new Cruise flagship in Glasgow

// Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group opens the doors to its new Cruise flagship in Glasgow today

// located on ingram street, it showcases collections from luxury fashion brands like gucci, burberry, balmain & more, // cruise is the sister brand to frasers group’s luxury retail fascia flannels.

Frasers Group has opened the doors to its new Cruise flagship in Glasgow in the latest chapter of its wider elevation strategy and ongoing commitment to luxury retail.

Situated on Ingram Street, the 25,000sq ft store store showcases collections from some of the world’s most exclusive luxury fashion houses across four floors and a mezzanine.

Cruise’s brand portfolio features emerging designers and established brands including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Balmain and Burberry.

“After 18 months of planning and a multi-million-pound investment today we open this newly refurbished Cruise store,” Frasers Group head of elevation Michael Murray said.

“Cruise Glasgow to those in Scotland, is known as an institution of luxury specialist retailing and thus, we’re pleased to be raising-the-bar for retail in the city.”

Frasers Group said the opening of the refurbished store demonstrated its commitment to investing in bricks-and-mortar and reinventing the luxury sector.

The Mike Ashley-owned firm is pushing ahead with an expansion scheme that features scores of new stores opening yearly alongside a dedicated multi-million-pound refurbishment program of Frasers Group’s existing store portfolio.

This includes plans to invest in the Flannels fascia, Cruise’s sister brand.

Frasers Group also recently opened the doors to its very first Frasers department store in Wolverhampton in time with the reopening of non-essential retail in England and Wales.

The new Frasers fascia is the luxury offshoot of House of Fraser, and offers beauty, fashion, homewares, premium and contemporary accessories and designer childrenswear from a range of 120 brands.

Speculation has been rife that Frasers Group is eyeing up several House of Fraser stores – and other possible locations – to be converted into Frasers, as part of Ashley’s ambitions to turn the department store chain into “the Harrods of the high street”.

Bought a represent hoodie after 2 months writing on the back wore away Olivia the manager rude and patronising said not a manufacturing problem not able to do anything after I had paid £160 for it. Do not shop here, nice clothing but customer service appalling.

For the fashion victims among you, this place is designer heaven. Cruise stocks loads of trendy clothes from famous labels suchs as, Armani, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Juicy Couture and Paul Smith just to name a few. Nestled on Ingram Street beside Jigsaw and Allsaints I guess it's an ideal shop for this very chic street. I'm not a huge designer fan and don't chase after labels, if I like something, I like it, I'm not particularly bothered about the designer. However, I always come in here for a browse as they always have really stunning clothes, shoes and accessories and they also do really good sales. I very rarely buy anything from Cruise but for my 18th birthday my friend bought me a Paul Smith purse which is beautiful and has really lasted, so it's not just pretty the stuff is actually really good quality.

I'm rather obsessed with Celine and this is the only shop that sells it in Glasgow. They also carry Gucci, Louboutin, YSL, Mulberry, Jimmy Choo and loads of other designers in clothing and shoes/handbags. I mostly go for the handbags. The best part is the Sales Clerks-they are knowledgable and approachable. I have never felt shunned even though you can in expensive stores like this one. The sales are hectic but on a normal day it's pretty easy to browse. I've also seen some really wonderful designer dresses in here but I'm not going to any function that need such a thing. If you are-this would be a great place to look.

Photo of Andrew L.

I'd seen this place & though hey why not go in & have a look. Best way to describe this shop in price wise it would be there right next to House of Frazer, as a lot of the stuff you might look at is really quite good designer stuff starting from roughly the £50 to £60 kind of price range though despite me seeing a leather Jacket there that I thought looked really good but my wallet & bank cards suddenly went into total lockdown as I'd seen the rather nice price tag of £600 odd so maybe this might be a very expinive treat IF I wre ever to have that kind of cash to splash. But either way the shop comes across as an up market luxuary designer shop for those that have managed to work their way up the pay ladder so to speak. Other than that for the rest of us mear mortals we can only look & dream of one day of maybe owning such a thing.

Cruise is a one-stop designer mecca in the heart of the Merchant City. Big labels to be found here include Prada, Armani and Moschino. Personally? i don't much like the clothes in here - I don't think they're that stylish. They just look like designer label carriers rather than well thought out pieces. A place for rich neds - or footballers, as they're more commonly known.

Photo of Laura M.

This is very much for the label-lovers out there. Indeed, it stocks Prada, Armani and Moschion. The staff will take their time with you and offer as much advice/compliments as you like. However, one cannot help but wonder if this is genuine or simply to get you to part with your cash - I suspect it is the later... Overall, it is clean, modern and seems to be very much appreciated by people fascinated with fashion. Although, if you are more into bargains, like me, give it a miss.

Frasers Group opens in Glasgow flagship of luxury ”Cruise” multi-brand store

Cruise , the luxury fashion retail chain acquired by Frasers Group back in 2011, has opened a new flagship store in Glasgow. Situated on Ingram Street, the four-floor store carries a mix of luxury labels including Gucci , Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen , Balenciaga, Balmain and Burberry. The store has been designed by London and Miami-based designers, Argent. It comes as non-essential retailers in Scotland were permitted to reopen on Monday following months of store closures.

Cruise was established in Edinburgh in 1981 and now also has stores in Glasgow, Derby and Aberdeen. Frasers Group said this latest opening demonstrates its “commitment to investing in bricks-and-mortar and reinventing the luxury sector”, a strategy spearheaded by the group’s head of elevation, Michael Murray.

Cruise is the sister brand to Frasers Group’s luxury retailer Flannels. It now has four stores in the UK, based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Derby.

The investment is part of the business’ wider elevation strategy and ongoing commitment to luxury retail experiences, spearheaded by Frasers Group’s Head of Elevation, Michael Murray.

Jack Bridges, partner at London and Miami-based designer Argent, which designed the store, said: “The ambition when designing this store was to create a luxury retail destination which can evolve with the seasons. You enter into a space adorned with bold prints contrasted with translucent and reflective materials for a dynamic futuristic feel. The palette consists of pastels and playful colours to give the store an opulent yet young and contemporary feel. With the sleek architectural design, the new store will become a global luxury playground."

Disney Destiny Will Bring Stories of Legendary Disney Heroes and Villains to Life

Disney Cruise Line revealed the first details about its next ship, the Disney Destiny , as it reached a new construction milestone today with a keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

With the good luck garnered by this maritime tradition, this ship of legends and lore is beginning to take shape.

The design theme of the Disney Destiny , sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure , will be “Heroes and Villains,” drawing on the legacy of beloved Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions, to forge a cruise vacation that will empower guests to embrace their own calling aboard every unforgettable voyage.

cruise designer glasgow

The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams were inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose, when developing the Disney Destiny.

Onboard, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike—including those from beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios stories like The Lion King , Hercules and One Hundred and One Dalmatians —within the spaces, experiences and entertainment throughout their voyage.

To embody and embolden the theme, Disney also unveiled brand-new filigree artwork for the bow of the Disney Destiny , continuing a beloved Disney Cruise Line design tradition. The illustration depicts Minnie Mouse striking a valiant pose in a heroic ensemble, her cape waving majestically in the sea breeze as she boldly leads guests toward their vacation destinies.

cruise designer glasgow

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”

The Disney Destiny is scheduled for delivery in 2025 as part of a multi-year expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet that includes the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure , the Disney Adventure that will homeport in Singapore, and the new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

‘I think it’s a Banksy’: mystery plaque for adulterer ignites speculation in artist’s home city

Sardonic tribute to cheating husband ‘Roger’ on bench in Bristol prompts mention of elusive graffiti artist

The amateur sleuths, conspiracy theorists and mischief makers on the sweeping Royal York Crescent in Clifton, Bristol , all have opinions about a mysterious plaque appearing to out an adulterous husband.

The brass plate engraved with “For My Love/Husband, Father, Adulterer/Yes, Roger, I Knew” quickly attracted attention after it was attached to a wooden bench on the grand crescent’s terrace at the end of last week.

Most residents doubt its authenticity. Rachel Weaver-Tooley, whose balcony flat overlooks the bench, points to the date of Roger’s birth on the plaque: 06.09.69. “Revenge is a dish best served cold … and in a brass plate,” she says in the spring sunshine. “But look at the numbers in dates 69 69. Come on!”

Yet some on the picturesque Georgian crescent, which has served as a location in films including Starter for 10 , are determined to uncover the secret plaque maker. “We asked in the cobbler’s earlier because we’re trying to get to the bottom of it,” says Kim Collins, 52, another resident. “They are the only place in Clifton village that engrave stuff, but they said it wasn’t anything to do with them.”

The main suspects appear to live on the crescent. “There are loads of quite eccentric people here. There are lots of novelists and artists, with time on their hands,” says Jason Smith, 53, who lives with Collins.

“I think it is someone living along here who wants to get people talking and laughing.”

It’s not the first time a mysterious plaque has appeared in the area. At the end of the crescent someone has fixed a similar plaque to a bin. It reads: “This bin is dedicated to Craig of Royal York Crescent who spends many a restful moment hither.”

Rumour has it that Craig, a familiar sight on the terrace, who purportedly likes to lean on the bin of an evening, suspects Smith.

Yet Smith denies involvement with either plaque and appears to have an alibi. “I wasn’t here on Thursday [when the plaque was spotted]. You can’t prove anything.”

The five-storey house opposite owns the section of the terrace with the bench. Sue Wells, 77, a writer who lives in one of its flats, has no objection to the plaque: “It’s hilarious. I think it is clever.”

Crowds have been coming to look at the bench, she says. “It is amazing how word spreads. I’ve been trying to have a kip … and there have been loads and loads of people outside.”

Her husband, Martin Wells, 73, a writer and psychotherapist, is one of the few prepared to indulge the idea it might be genuine: “If it’s real, [his spouse] has put up with this for years and only when he has died did they feel able to tell the truth … a very passive person.” The plaque appears to be fixed with tacks, jogging his memory: “Two or three nights ago there was some banging and I thought that’s late for builders to be banging.”

A naked man hanging from a window ledge.

Inevitably, the elusive Bristol graffiti artist, Banksy, is mentioned. His mural of an adulterous, naked man hanging from a window ledge, Well Hung Lover , in Bristol’s centre provides a tenuous link. “I think it is Banksy,” says Weaver-Tooley, with a mischievous smile.

Collins, however, makes the case for a homegrown artist: “If we are going to have a form of street art in Clifton village it would be engraved brass plaques.”
