The Virtual Work Visa is a one-year visa that allows foreigners employed outside the UAE to live and work in the country under self-sponsorship. To be eligible for the Virtual Work Visa, applicants must prove that they work remotely for an organisation outside the UAE and earn a monthly income of at least US$3,500 (AED 12,853) or its equivalent in a different currency. The Virtual Work Visa is available for individuals who plan to work remotely from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah and must be applied for through ICP.

The Retirement Residence Visa is a long-term visa designed for retirees who wish to spend their golden years in the UAE. The visa is valid for a period of five years and can be renewed upon expiry. It allows retirees to live in the UAE without the need for a sponsor, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

To be eligible for the Retirement Residence Visa, retirees must meet certain requirements, including being 55 years or older, having a monthly income of at least AED 20,000 (or its equivalent in foreign currency), having proof of investment in a property worth at least AED 2 million, or having a combination of these criteria.

Retirees who obtain the Retirement Residence Visa can enjoy several benefits, such as being able to sponsor their spouse, children and domestic workers, as well as having the freedom to work part-time without the need for a work permit. Additionally, they can access healthcare services and educational institutions, just like any other resident of the UAE.

It’s important to note that retirees with the Retirement Residence Visa cannot work full-time in the UAE and are not entitled to any government benefits or pensions. However, they can continue to receive their retirement income from their home country while living in the UAE.

– Real Estate Owners’ Residence (Two years)

The Real Estate Owners’ Residence is a type of visa that allows property owners in the UAE to stay in the country for a period of two years. This visa does not require a sponsor, and instead, is issued to individuals who have invested in real estate in the UAE. To be eligible for this visa, the property owner must have purchased a property in the UAE with a minimum value of AED 1 million (approximately $270,000 USD), and the property must be in a habitable condition.

Once the Real Estate Owners’ Residence visa is issued, the property owner can stay in the UAE for a period of two years, and can also sponsor their immediate family members to join them. Additionally, the visa allows the property owner to enter and exit the UAE as many times as they wish during the two-year period.

It is important to note that this type of visa does not provide the property owner with the right to work in the UAE, and they must obtain a separate work permit if they wish to work in the country. However, the visa does allow the property owner to open a bank account in the UAE, obtain a driver’s license, and access various other services and benefits.

3. Green Visa

  • Freelancers
  • Skilled employees
  • Investors and partners

Applicants under all these categories can get the visa on self-sponsorship.

To be eligible for the Green Visa, skilled employees must have a valid UAE employment contract, hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, earn a salary of at least AED 15,000 per month, and be classified in the first, second, or third occupational level as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Freelancers must have a valid UAE residence and hold a degree or diploma from a recognised academic institution, while investors must have an investment in a property worth at least AED 2 million, or have a deposit in a UAE bank of at least AED 1 million.

4. Five-year multiple entry tourist visa

5. visit visa to visit relatives or friends.

As per the announcement made by the UAE Cabinet on the new visas that have come into effect this month, people can apply for several visit visa categories, without need a sponsor. This includes the visit visa to visit relatives and friends.

A visit visa to visit relatives or friends in the UAE is a temporary permit that allows non-UAE residents to enter the country for a short period of time for the purpose of visiting family or friends who are living in the UAE. This visa can be obtained by submitting an application to the UAE embassy or consulate in the applicant’s home country or through a sponsor in the UAE, such as a relative or a friend who is a resident or a hotel.

The duration of this visa varies depending on the applicant’s nationality and the purpose of the visit. Some nationalities are eligible for visa-free entry or visa on arrival, while others require pre-approval before entering the UAE.

It is important to note that visit visas do not permit the holder to work or engage in business activities in the UAE, and the visa holder must leave the country before the expiry date of the visa.

6. Jobseeker visa

The job seeker visa is a temporary visa that allows individuals to come to the UAE to look for job opportunities. It is issued for a period of six months, during which time the individual can search for a job and attend interviews with potential employers. If the individual is successful in securing a job offer, the visa can be converted into a work visa without the need to leave the country.

To be eligible for a job seeker visa, the individual must meet certain criteria, such as having a minimum level of education and relevant work experience. The application for the visa must also be supported by a sponsor, which can be either an employer or a recruitment agency in the UAE.

The job seeker visa is a good option for individuals who are looking to explore job opportunities in the UAE before committing to a full-time job. It allows them to get a feel for the job market, network with potential employers, and make informed decisions about their career path. It also gives employers the chance to assess the candidate’s skills and suitability for the job before offering them a permanent position.

7. Visit visa to explore business opportunities

Another category of a visit visa that does not require a UAE-based company or individual as a sponsor is the visit visa to explore business opportunities.

Looking to work in the UAE without a sponsor? Consider these three types of visas:

If you are looking to work in the UAE without a sponsor, there are three types of self-sponsorship residency visas available. These options are ideal for those seeking long-term residency in the country or those looking to relocate for remote work. The three visas are the Green Visa, Golden Visa, and Virtual Work Visa. Each visa has its own requirements and benefits, which we will explain in more detail below.

Three Visa Options for Working in the UAE Without a Sponsor

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been a hub for businesses and job opportunities for many years, attracting people from all over the world. Traditionally, expats working in the UAE would require a sponsor, either an employer or a family member, to apply for a residency visa. However, the UAE government has recently introduced new visa options that allow individuals to work and reside in the country without the need for a sponsor. In this article, we will discuss three types of visas that can be obtained without a sponsor, opening up opportunities for skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and remote workers.

1. Green Visa:

For Skilled Employees:

  • Skilled employees, freelancers, and investors can apply for the Green Visa
  • Skilled employees must meet four conditions, including having a valid UAE employment contract, holding a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and earning a salary of not less than Dh15,000 per month
  • Green Visa holders can sponsor first-degree relatives and have a six-month grace period to exit the UAE after the visa’s cancellation and expiry

For Freelancers:

  • Freelancers must have a freelancer permit from MOHRE, proof of a Bachelor’s degree or specialized diploma, and proof of income of minimum Dh360,000 or equivalent in other currency for the last two years.

2. Golden Visa:

  • Eligible individuals include frontline heroes (doctors and nurses), outstanding high school students and college graduates, investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, and humanitarian workers.
  • Benefits of the Golden Visa include the ability to sponsor family members, no restriction on the maximum duration of stay outside the UAE, and a six-month e-visa provided to applicants.
  • Family members are also allowed to stay in the UAE in the event of the original holder’s death until the end of their permit’s duration.

3. Virtual Work Residence Visa:

Dubai’s remote work programme:.

To apply for Dubai’s remote work visa, you need to apply through GDRFA Dubai. The visa is valid for one year and requires applicants to meet certain criteria. For employed individuals, they must provide proof of employment from their current employer with a one-year contract validity, a minimum salary of US$3,500 (Dh12,853) per month, last month’s payslip, and three preceding months’ bank statements. Business owners, on the other hand, must provide proof of ownership of the company for one year or more, subject to extension, with an average monthly income of US$3,500 per month (Dh12,853) or its equivalent in foreign currencies and three preceding months’ bank statements. Additionally, applicants must have a passport with a minimum of six months validity and valid health insurance covering their residency in the UAE.

Where to apply for a UAE Residence Visa?

The United Arab Emirates has two authorities responsible for issuing visas. The General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) issues entry permits and visas for Dubai, while the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) issues visas for the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain.

In conclusion, these visa options provide great opportunities for individuals who wish to work and live in the UAE without the need for sponsorship. However, it is important to note that each visa has its own eligibility requirements and conditions that must be met. Therefore, it is recommended to research and understand each visa option thoroughly before applying.

UAE VISA (For DUBAI & ABU DHABI): Requirements & How to Apply

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

One of the highlights of last year for me was my short stop in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). I was there for two reasons: to visit one of my closest friends, who moved to Dubai a few years ago, and to take advantage of a stopover. I was coming from a longer trip around Morocco and Turkey, and my flight back to Manila (Philippines) was connecting at Dubai Airport, so I decided to just seize the opportunity and stay there for over a week.

UAE Visa is probably the easiest visa we got. It was expensive, but it was relatively effortless, especially given that we have a friend in Dubai, who served as a sponsor.

Yep, sponsor. If you’re applying for a UAE Visa, you need a sponsor. It can be a family member, a colleague, or a friend. This will make things a lot easier. If you don’t know anyone there, an airline, hotel, or travel agency can sponsor you.

In the beginning, we had a difficult time figuring out the process. There’s just so much info online and they somewhat say different things because they serve their own interest. For example, some UAE-based airlines also offer visa services but they require flight tickets booked with them. Dozens of hotels are also authorized to process visas, but many of them require that book rooms with them (for obvious reasons). In this post, I’ll try to summarize everything so you have all possible options.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

Who needs a UAE Visa?

Since I am a Philippine passport-holder, I had to secure a visa first before entering UAE. Not everyone needs a visa, though.

  • If you’re a citizen of any member-state of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), no visa is needed . Here are the six GCC members: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar*. I’m putting an asterisk on Qatar because although it is a member, its diplomatic ties with UAE and other members have been severed in a rift that began in June 2017.
  • Visa-on-arrival is available free-of-charge for the citizens of the following countries : EUROPE: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden, UK, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Malta, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, ASIA: Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore OTHERS: United States, Australia, New Zealand

For the rest of us, a visa is required.

Note that this doesn’t get affixed to your passport. A regular 30-day tourist visa must be used within 60 days from the date of issuance.

TYPES OF UAE VISA

Travelers visiting the UAE for leisure has three visa types to choose from depending on your purpose and travel duration.

  • Visit Visa , if you’re traveling to UAE to visit an immediate family member who is a resident of the UAE (sponsor). The family member must be earning more than AED 4000 or AED 3000 + accommodation. The sponsor should be the one to apply for you.
  • Tourist Visa , if you’re visiting a distant relative or friend or if you don’t know anyone there. The regular single-entry visa can let you stay for up to 30 days, although a multiple-entry visa is also available. If you know someone in UAE, it would be faster and easier if they apply for you. But if you have no connections, you can get a visa via an airline, hotel, or travel agency. (More info about that below)
  • Transit visa , if you’re visiting UAE for at least 8 hours but not longer than 4 days (including the arrival and departure days). This can also be pre-arranged. This visa can be used within 14 days from the issue date.

Here’s a quick summary of the validity, maximum number of days allowed, and costs per visa type. I’m also indicating a range of prices per type. Rates vary greatly, depending on where you apply.

uae tourist visa without sponsor

None of these visas can be extended.

In June 2018, the UAE Government approved the waiving of fees for transit visas for 48 hours. However, I have no idea about details of this: until when it will be implemented or what requirements are needed. The announcement, however, states that transit visa may be extended for up to 96 hours for a fee of AED 50.

Important : In a memo released on June 2, 2017 , Dubai’s Immigration has ordered agencies to stop accepting applications for 90-day visit visas from Filipino and Pakistani citizens for the next 3 months. Not sure if this will be restored in the future but until further notice, this option is no longer available for travelers from the Philippines and Pakistan. Update (Oct 2018): This has been restored.

UAE VISA REQUIREMENTS

The following are the required documents when applying for a UAE visa. These are the basic requirements.

Your sponsor may add more. For example, if you book your visa via Etihad Airways, they will ask for Etihad flight tickets. If you book with a hotel, they can demand that you reserve a room with them. Travel agencies often don’t have these extra reqs, but as I scanned prices, I found theirs to be a bit more expensive. Some agencies ask for flight and reservations too, some don’t. The agency where we applied didn’t ask for these so we didn’t submit.

Anyway, here are the required documents when applying for a UAE (Dubai) visa:

  • Clear scanned passport copy (the bio page and the last page). Must have at least 6 months validity.
  • Scanned colored passport-size photo . 4.3 x 5.5cm. White background. At least 80% of your face must be visible.
  • Accomplished application form . It is usually the sponsor (travel agency, host) who does this.

If you’re sponsored by someone in the UAE , they will also be asked for a copy of their Resident Visa and their Emirates ID (resident card).

If you’re a parent traveling with a minor (18 years old and below), you must also submit a copy of birth certificate of the minor

If applying for a transit visa , a hotel reservation and onward flight ticket are usually collected too.

Additional requirements for visit visa

Additional requirements if visiting immediate family:

  • If sponsored by a wife or husband : marriage contract attested from Ministry of Foreign Affairs or UAE Embassy
  • If you’re a minor getting sponsored by a parent in UAE , attested birth certificates
  • If your relationship with sponsor cannot be proven from family names displayed on the sponsor’s and the invited relative’s passports: Relationship proof attested from the Embassy
  • If your sponsor works for a private company : Attested work contract
  • If your sponsor is a UAE government employee : a salary certificate

Optional Documents

The following documents are NOT required. These are often ignored, but the travel agency or sponsor may ask for in order to speed up processing of your visa.

  • If you have traveled to UAE within the past year , a copy of the entry and exit stamps on your passport
  • If you have traveled to the USA, UK, Schengen countries, Canada, Russia, Australia or New Zealand within the past 5 years, submit a copy of your visas.

WHERE TO SUBMIT YOUR UAE VISA APPLICATION

Once you have all the documents, it’s time to find a “sponsor”.

Like I said earlier, a sponsor can be a family member or a friend living in UAE. It will be much faster if they take care of the application. Just send them your papers. But if you don’t know anyone there, an airline, hotel, or travel agency in UAE can serve as your sponsor.

UAE-based Airlines

  • Etihad . You can apply here .
  • Emirates . More info here .

Most 3-star hotels (and up) are able to process UAE visas. So if you’re already eyeing a hotel, send them an email if they also offer visa services because there’s a big chance that they do.

You may also check their official website. For example, Jumeira Group — which owns and runs the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Living World Trade Centre Residence, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel — provides plenty of visa info on their website. If you would be staying at any of them, you may apply here .

UAE Travel Agencies

In our case, my friend in Dubai who took care of our application went to a travel agency and it went smoothly. We didn’t run into any problem. You can also avail of their services if you don’t know anyone. Here are the details of the agency that processed our application:

WELCOME TRAVELS LLC Tel No. : 00971-4224-3902 Email: [email protected] Address: Al Ghurair Mall (Opposite Rayhaan Rotana Hotel), Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

That’s it! We got our visa after only 1 day. 😍

If you’re a Filipino , UAE is a destination that usually raises a red flag for Philippine Immigration officers. If you’re concerned about getting offloaded, please read this post: How to Avoid Getting offloaded .

Hello here, I’m a Srilankan I need to visit dubai the purpose for work after I visit if I got any job offer ai need to transfer work visa workouts exit UAE so let me know which type of visa I should Apply.

Ryan Biddulph

Good stuff Yoshke. As a US citizen I have it easy ;) Getting into Qatar – neighboring of course – was easy as pie. Not expensive, not free, $30 or something like that for us. It was a visa on arrival so the process flowed smoothly. Love those UAE lands. Fascinating places.

ann

hi, Very informative ! btw, im planning to have my visa processed by travel agency in dubai, my concern is that since the they only issue an electronic visa, do you think this is acceptable by the Philippine immigration? coz i read that some were offloaded saying Pink visa or orginal is needed?

Hope to hear from you.

Yosh Dimen

Hi Ann. To be honest, in our case, we didn’t present the original pink visa, just a printed out online copy. We didn’t run into any trouble. However, we also heard stories (other travelers) na hindi daw nga tinanggap kung hindi original. So my advice is to just get the original copy to be safe.

Apply Tourist Visa and Change by Exit again if you got residence visa

hello, po hope u can answer. I want to get my sister here in japan and after her visa here. she want to go again ni dubai by the sponsor of my another family there. is that ok ? to exit in dubai?

Hi thank you for the info very informative and helpful.! Just would like to ask if you also provide security deposit going to dubai? Thank you hope to hear from you soon

Banana

Hi. You said a friend in Dubai processed you visa there? Would you know how much? And may we know the agency name?

Hi Banana! Our friend applied via the agency I mentioned in the post, Welcome Travels. She paid 400AED.

Giness

how would they give the visa to u? courier?

mia

hi…. i just want to know what is a “PINK VISA”, i got mine with the help of a travel agency and they only gave me a copy that looks like the one you posted on a short bond paper size. is there any other copy? and also is it ok if i fold the paper in an envelope size for easy carrying?

Hi Mia! The pink visa is the original copy of the visa. We’ve heard from other commenters that Immigration asks for this, but in our experience, we just presented a printed our copy of the visa emailed to us and they accepted it. So we’re not sure if it’s really a requirement. If you can secure a pink copy, that would be best.

thanks! also is it ok if i fold the paper in an envelope size for easy carrying? do i have to print extra copies? are you gonna surrender a copy to the immigration officer?

mae

Ask ko lang if nakapag-travel ka to Dubai using the printed e-visa? Tinanggap ba ng immigration dito sa pinas?

Hi Mia. In my experience, they did not take a copy. They just looked at it and gave it back to me. Not sure about folding, but I think it’s okay.

Jake

Hi, I’m planning to go to Dubai this coming July 2018. Let’s say my girlfriend process the visa for me, do I still need to book a hotel or accommodation to show to the Dubai immigration? I will be coming from Singapore after a 4 days trip.

Any advise will really help.

vanny

hello po! when is the best time to apply for a dubai tourist visa? Me and my friends are planning to go on Nov. 8, 2019. When po ba dapat mag.apply na ng visa?

At the earliest, 60 days before your scheduled trip because the standard visa must be used within 60 days of issue date.

Sochima

Boss I want to visit Dubai. But don’t have anybody to sponsor me

Hi Jake, sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. (I wasn’t asked, but Vins was.)

But it’s generally best practice that you have hotel booking in case they look for it.

up up up :)

gisel

hi! just like to ask did Welcome travels buy tickets for you too? or just the visa?

Just the visa.

Hi, I posted a comment yesterday and I’m afraid that its been deleted or what not. Anyways, would like to know if you were asked for a Hotel reservation or accommodation when you pass through immigration in Dubai?

It wasn’t deleted. All comments are held for moderation, and it takes time for us to read all the comments as we get lots a day.

Sandy

Hi. My boyfriend and I is planning to visit her sister in UAE, in Abu Dhabi to be specific. So how many visit visas does her sister needs to get? Will that be 2 also? Or on visa for the me and my bf already? Just asking since we are now calculating for the whole cost for the trip. And we really dont have any idea.

Tey

Hi. We have the same scenario but in our case the one sponsoring us is my auntie and my boyfriend will join me. What happened to your application? What visa granted to him? Thank you.

I have no idea either. Your bf definitely should apply for a visit visa because he’s visiting immediate family.

Adrian

Hi, when applying for the visa, are you allowed to choose a multiple entry tourist / visit visa? I’m asking cause I’m planning to visit my uncle in Dubai, then I’m going to fly to Russia then back to Dubai. I need to make sure I can get a multiple entry tourist visa. Many thanks.

farah

i submitted visa through a agency and he assured i would get visa within 2 days but its almost 3rd day is going to be end still he is saying it is in the last phase and neither giving me the application ID. How can i come to know that he really submitted the application,

edc

hello! thank you for the info. if i were to make certificate of employment as a supporting document for the visa, to whom shall i address it? thank you!

Meldy Arienda

Hi Yoshke, is it possible to get the contact person from Welcome Travels. I really would like to get into a partnership on visa sponsorship. Appreciate your prompt response. Thanks.

H

Do you still need to apply for a transit visa if it’s shorter than 8 hours?

Jay Jay

Hello. this will be my first travel abroad. to be specific DUBAI. I’ll be travelling with my cousin which is 8 years old only. But her parents are both working there. what should i do? P.S: My cousin has been travelling from manila to dubai twice and been stayed there for atleast 1 year and 3 months. Thank you for your honest response.

You will still need a visa. Best if yung parents nya ung magpo-process kasi andun na sila.

But please make sure you also secure a DSWD clearance since you’re traveling with a minor without either parent.

Hi Sir, ‘yung friend po ba na nag sponsor sa pagkuha nyo ng visa ay filipino or UAE national? Upon reading po kasi kapag hindi immediate family ang mag sponsor, kailangan UAE national lang. Is this true po? Thank you and hoping for your response.

Hi Tey, yung sa amin ay friend na Pinoy. Pero this was 2016 so hindi ko alam if naging strict na sila since then.

Chris B

Hello! I have questions po. I have a relative in Saudi Arabia who can sponsor my visit visa. But I’m really planning to go to Dubai. Is it okay? Or do I need to go to Saudi first before going to Dubai?

Hi Chris, I have no idea kapag ganyang case. :|

Hi Po. Good evening. I have a questions po. This year lang Month of May pumunta kami ng Foreigner Boyfriend ko sa Hongkong, Thailand, at Singapore. And this coming October po pupunta po kami ng Dubai with his mom for 7 nights and 8 days. Tapos doon na po kami magkikita sa Dubai at wala po akong work kasi nag aaral po ako. Ano po ba yung dapat na requirements na e submit ko since I am a student(Aside sa Student ID, certificate of enrollment) and since my sponsor is my boyfriend, Ano po yung mga documents na hingin ko sa boyfriend ko para Magamit ko sa tourist visa or maipakita ko sa immigration officer. Kumbaga ayoko na syang pumunta pa ng PHILIPPINES because malayo na kasi pag nag travel pa sya papuntang Philippines bali 48 hours na in one way, aside sa 15 hours from their home to dubai. Natatakot kasi akong ma offload sa immigration. Thank you. Hoping matulungan nyo po ako. God bless u po.

Hi Saysay! Pagdating sa visa, as you can see sa taas, very straightforward naman ang UAE visa application. Wala masyadong documents na kailangan. Read na lang sa taas.

Mas tricky ang PH Immigration kasi if I remember correctly, Dubai is a hotspot for them. Are you flying to Dubai alone?

Lasyl

Hi, just want to know some details if you know for the one who will go to Dubai with Working/Entry visa. Is it gonna be hard compared to those who have visit visa? Please need some who knows.

Hi lasyl, we don’t know po pag work visa.

Janelle

Nag email na po ako sa welcome travels and Shabab (travel agent) replied me na sa whatsapp lang kami mag commuicate. But I don’t feel safe replying him through whatsapp. I would like to hear po yung opinion about this. Thanks

Hi Janelle, I have no opinion about it. It wasn’t us but our friend in Dubai who submitted the documents to them, so I have no idea about how they do business. But we got our visa and it was accepted by Immigration.

Marie

Hi, do you have an idea how I could get a multiple entry visa. I will go to 10 day cruise with the family of my boyfriend. the list of the route includes Oman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and etc. You think that the Cruise Company could fix my visa if the Cruise is already booked?

Hi Marie, I have no idea about that po.

joe

hi po good afternoon po..may concern po sana ako..my pinsan po kasi ako na nagwowork sa dubai and gusto ko sana na mgpatulong in order for me na makakuha din ng work dun ang kaso mejo busy xa or should i say wla tlga xang time pra mtulungan ako n mkakuha ng visit visa..tanong ko lng po sna madali bng mkakuha ng visa if in case n ako lng ung mgpapaprocess nun at roughly estimation mga mgkano kya ang mgagastos ska po bka nmn pwede nyo akong mbigyan ng agency n pdeng mgprocess nung visa ko po or any concern n maipapayo nla saken.. thank you

Emz

Good day po. pde po ba mg ask kng anung legit agency na ode applyan ng tourist visa for dubai na mei ksama ng accommodation. Thankn you

Elai

HI! Is there any accredited travel agency here in the Philippines na nag aayos ng visa?

Hi ELai, meron po siguro pero wala lang kaming kilala. :(

Jheyann

Hi, just want to clarify.

Kung yung expiration ng visa is magstart once dumating na sa dubai? Like yung validity is 2 months (example, Oct na-release validity is until Dec) but then you will leave the ph dec pa then will return January. Is the visa still valid til Jan? Thank you for the response.

I’m a follower of your blog. All the best!

Hi Jheyann, the validity of the visa is different from the duration of stay. The length of stay depends on what you’re applying for. The standard visa is good for a 30-day stay. A 90-day-stay visa is available now too, but I think you have to justify why you need to stay that long.

Thank you so much for your response. I’m enlightened.

Godbless :)

No prob! Happy to help!

raquel guieb julian

Chacha

Hi my bf currently suffered from a serious car accident in abu dhabi, thank God he survived. But I think he is going through depression ever since the accident. He is not in good terms with this family and so he’s been badly asking me to visit him there in UAE. He works there with a single entry, unlimited years visa so leaving uae to have a vacation in the philippines or anywhere else outside uae wouldn’t be a good choice. Best thing is for me to visit him there so he offered to sponsor all my expenses just to get there. What worries me most is that I’m currently unemployed, I just worked as an online marketer but income wasnt good there. Does the uae embassy also asked for some kind of show money? And will they also asked about my work and income? I did have some travel experience outside the country, I was able to travel Japan alone before (which was sponsored by my ex bf) and last month I was able to get a 10yr tourist visa for USA with my parents (but this time sponsored by my parents). Will these visas help me get one for uae? So sorry for the long message, I just want to fill you in what I have and maybe you can suggest something to help get me a visa. This is just so rush for me, if it’s not because of the accident I wouldnt be rushing on visiting him in uae since I have plans of applying as a flight attendant.

Hi Chacha, I don’t think your income matters in the visa application. Your occupation will be displayed on your visa, but they usually don’t ask for proof.

However, even if you’re able to get a visa, you still have to go through PH Immigration, which is by far stricter. If you’re unemployed and your destination is Dubai, you’re likely to undergo secondary inspection because UAE is a “hotspot” destination for them. In this case, you will have to provide proof of your relationship with sponsor and proof of employment/financial capability of your sponsor.

Jeffrey Viri

Hello Yoshke,

Thanks for providing information on UAE Visa. I’m planning to visit Turkey this April 2019 and since im only transiting, do you have news kung effective na ung new policy regarding waiving of fees for transit visas for 48 hours extended to 96 hours at AED 50. I plan to have a stopover in Dubai for 4 days. Is it upon arrival in Dubai?

Hi Jeffrey, until now, I have no details yet about it. :(

Quennie

Sir, question lang.. Mag stopover kami at Dubai for 8hrs and we’re planning to meet our friend (living in Dubai) inside the airport. Do we still need to get a transit visa since lalagpas parin kami sa immigration? Thank you sir.

Hi Quennie, ang alam ko, yes, since lalabas ka ng immigration.

Helloha

Hi. Even if I don’t have any sponsor in Dubai, I can still apply through the travel agency you mentioned right? Usually 1 day lang ba processing nila?

Hi Helloha, ang alam ko, yep.

Di ko sure though because yung friend ko sa Dubai yung nag-apply for us. She just shared with us ung details nung agency kung saan sya nag-apply.

Amore

Hi! sir good morning, me and my cousin are planning to apply visa in dubai tru her sister sponsoring it, 1st cousin po kami by father side, but im illegitimate child so my papers are no proof na mgpinsan po kami, so anu po ba dapat ko applyan na visa? since visit visa is for immediate family at ako po matatawag na hindi immediate family kasi nga no proof. pwde po bang parehas na visa applyan namin ng pinsan ko or iba2 kami ng visa peru isang tao lang mg sponsor at pwde bang sabay kami umalis ng pinsan ko.? slamat po at sanay masagot po itong tanong ko. god bless po.

Hi Amore, di ko po alam pag ganyan. Pero hopefully ung ibang readers namin may idea sila.

Harry

Hi Yoshke, I have traveled to UAE (Dubai) last October 2017 but it was sponsored by my employer. I am planning to travel back to UAE but at my own expense. I have relatives working there and I am planning to apply for a tourist visa and look for a job there. I do not want to involve my relatives with my application.

Will it be possible that my application be denied even if I already had a visa before?

Hope you can response. Thank you

Hi Harry, there’s always that chance naman. Pero malaking-malaki na yung probability that you’ll be granted a visa if may visa ka na before.

Pipa

400AED lang talaga yung binayaran ng friend mo sa travel agency? wala na hiningi na security deposit? at hindi ba hassle sa friend mo yung proseso? nahihiya din naman kasi ako mang-abala ng colleagues just to sponsor me. i am in contact din with 2 hotels sa dubai and both of them are asking for 5000aed security deposit. it’s refundable after 2 weeks leaving dubai, but still a lot lalu na per person yan. thanks!

Hi Pipa, yep, 400 AED lang daw nung nag-apply and hindi naman daw hassle, mabilis lang. And walang security deposit.

Paolo Imbag

Hi! Thanks for your very detailed blog. :) just want to ask if they asked for yoir ITR?

Hi Paolo, hindi po. :)

Lyn

Hello! I would like to ask, I have a friend she work in Dubai, is it OK if sya po ang mag sponsor sa akin,I’m planning to visit her.she work there for almost 3yrs.

Hi Lyn, when I visited, I was sponsored by a friend too, so I think it’s okay, at least for visa application.

PH Immigration is a lot more complicated, though, so it may be another story altogether.

chase

I got a tourist visa(14days) for my friend from Philippines. I’m working here in UAE. Unfortunately they put Sales Exec for profession. She’s in marketing so her COE says marketing manager. I asked the agent here they told me it wont be a problem and they can’t do anything as the immigration here fills up the data. Did anyone have the same issue? We’re just worried about the Philippine Immigration. She’s a frequent traveler. Have valid hotel bookings , klook booked tours and a return ticket.

Hi Chase, same thing happened to me. My line of work is marketing but my visa stated SALES EXECUTIVE. I didn’t have any problem though.

lorde

Hi! Magtratravel po ako via tourist visa to Abu Dhabi and the trip is sponsored by my sister who is working there. I will be travelling with her this Feb. 14 na po since nandito po siya ngayon for vacation. I have a question regarding my visa, it says “Sales Representative” on my profession eh nurse po ang work ko sa Pinas. Btw first time traveler po ako but I’m traveling with my sponsor. Thanks!

Di ko alam if may bearing sya. Pero yung saken, ang nakalagay din sa visa is Sales Executive kahit na di naman ako ganun. Di naman nagka-problem. Pero di ko alam if di sya issue in general.

What would you suggest po if ever they ask about my job? Should I tell them what’s on my tourist visa or yung totoo po na job ko? Kasi I prepared my CoE and certification of approved leave just in case they ask for it. Marami po kaya silang tanong kahit kasama ko naman yung ate ko who sponsored my trip? Thank you :)

kerwin lim

Hi Chase, just want to ask if i still need to get a tourist visa if i will just be in dubai for 4 days before heading to egypt? or the transit visa will do? Thanks.

Loreen

I would like to ask if what kind of visa that I need to apply if I will be arriving at DXB Airport from the Philippines and I will go to Sharjah Airport as this is the airport going to Istanbul? Thank you a lot.

Btw, I will arrive by 11:25PM at DXB and my flight going to Istanbul in Sharjah is by 4:50Am. Thanks

Jhen

Hi ,my boy friend is work in dubai he decided to get a visa for me ,what kind of visa he gets. And what is the requirements that ive given to my bf so that he send me a visa and how much the fee .

Myra baylon

Hi! I have a partner in life but we are not yet married with 1 child, he is working now in dubai for 1yr.

VanessaG

Hi, how much did you pay for the visa processing? Did they require you to have something like a ‘security deposit?’ I tried contacting hotels as sponsors para isang booking na lang for hotel and visa, but they have this parang security deposit na ang laki.

minch

hi po. bago lng po ako naka pg renew ng passport ko po. tapos one of the requirement p puntang dubai is 6 months validity. ask ko lng po kng ma consider yong passport ko kasi po renewal n mn po yon or hindi po, need ko p po mg hintay ng 6 months? thank for your response.

Medyo di ko na-gets yung question. Paclarify po.

Bheybylove23

Hi po good afternoon..my friend in Dubai he is working there..at gusto nya na pumunta ako. Sya Ang sasagot ng visa plane ticket.. Basta may passport lng ako. Pwede po ba yon? Thanks

Kyukee

Hi, Will be visiting Dubai real soon. My friend is sponsoring us. I just want to ask. Dito po ba sa PH immigration, my friend already gave me scanned copies or her passport, emirates ID, work documents etc., kailangan pa ba ng letter of invite from the friend? or enough na yung mga binigay niya as supporting documents plus the visa of course.

Ideally, to be safe, mas okay if you have a letter of invitation. But in reality, madalas, they don’t look for this document. Pero if matapat ka sa strict na officer or if pagdudahan ka nila, they can ask for an invitation.

Hi, I’m a Ph National planning to visit Dubai via SG once travel ban is lifted. I don’t have any sponsor with me, and will try to look for hotel or airways offering visa services. Is it advisable to process my visa for UAE once I’m already in SG or days before travelling? Let say I’ll stay there for 5 days, is it enough? What do you think are the chances of my visa getting approved? Really need an advice. Thank you in advance!

Dee

Hello! I hope someone can answer this question please. I’m planning to go to MNL to London but had a layover in Abu Dhabi for both Arrival and Departure just for a min of 5 hrs for both. My Trip to London will be a total of 14-16 days I supposed. Should I get just the Transit Visa? Or Should I apply for the single entry tourist visa? I am really confused. Thanks in advanced!

Hi Dee. Same airline po ba and one booking number ung both legs of the flight?

Di ko po alam for sure ung rules nila now but may explanation ang Etihad about it here. Baka makatulong: https://www.etihad.com/en/fly-etihad/visas

UAE scraps the sponsor requirement for visit visa and introduces jobseeker entry visa

DUBAI – The UAE introduced wide-ranging reforms to its visa rules, with the UAE Cabinet approving executive regulations on entry visas and residence visas on Monday (April 18).

The new system for entry visas offers UAE visitors a variety of visa types for different visit purposes. New types of visas are introduced without requiring a host or sponsor for the first time. READ FULL RULES HERE

Major improvements include facilitating the entry requirements for all visa types, offering flexible visa durations that meet the needs of the visitors and the purpose of the visit.

In addition, all entry visas are available for single or multiple entry and can be renewed for similar period(s) and are valid for 60 days from their issuance date.

The executive regulations of the Federal Decree-Law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners shall come into force after ninety days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

UAE visit visa or entry permit to visit relatives or friends

As per the current amendment, a visitor can apply for this entry permit if he or she is a relative or friend of a UAE citizen or resident. It does not require a sponsor or a host.

The special visa for job seekers provides a win-win situation for all stakeholders related to the job market.

The UAE’s new visa rule would assist the government in finding fresh talent, help job seekers save time, and provide companies with increased flexibility in their human resource (HR) practices.

The new type of entry visa, titled ‘explore job opportunities', by the government provides easy entry for young talents and skilled workers to explore new job opportunities without requiring a host or sponsor in the UAE.

The change was among many new visa rules approved by the UAE Cabinet. Previously, several hundreds of thousands of employment seekers arrived in the UAE on a visit visa searching for future jobs. Furthermore, it is illegal for companies to employ workers while on tourist visas.

Deepa Sud, the CEO of Plum Jobs, said the UAE government has opened up the country to welcome new talent into the country. “It is evident they are looking for potential talent across sectors. They encourage more people to come here and look for jobs and make the UAE their long-term home. The new visa simplifies formalities.”

She added, “With this, all sectors are set to benefit. New businesses, the telecommunication sector, the immigration department, the Dubai Metro, the real estate sector, airlines, etc. It is a win-win for all parties.”

Sud said in a post-pandemic world; there is a shortage of skilled workers. “Such visas provide the next generation of job seekers a friendly environment to find their niche. It gives them a little more freedom, and since the process is cost-effective and hassle-free, it makes it a lot more effective.”

Commenting on the time constraint and short deadlines job seekers face, Huma Afreen, a human resource specialist at the Transnational Academic Group, said, “In the recruitment cycle, the time has often been a constraint in the past. Having more flexibility toward visa options would help attract many young and skilled candidates worldwide, improving the quality of our talent pool.”

The company facilities human resource requirement for Curtin University, Dubai. “And from a candidate’s perspective, the new rules give them sufficient time and flexibility to find a job they are happy with, at the right level, pay and so on,” Huma added.

Athul Mohan, a job seeker currently in Dubai on a visit visa, said, “I came to the UAE for the first time in 2020, and Covid-19 hit. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything at that time. I came back last month to try my luck here again.”

A mechanical engineer, Athul is still on the lookout for a job. He said, “A visa specifically made for job-seeking purposes puts people like me in an advantageous position. Things would be more streamlined, and companies would treat us with better respect.”

Tourist visas entry permits without a sponsor or host in the UAE

Tourist visas entry permits without a sponsor or host in the UAE: An overview

With the new Residency reform, travelers can obtain several entries permits without a sponsor or host. Some of the new modifications will take effect the following month as part of the UAE's commitment to reform its visa policies and new entry permits in the UAE. For the first time, the new system provides travelers with a selection of entry permits without a sponsor or host for various visit purposes. These visas offer adjustable durations to accommodate travelers’ needs and the objectives of the visit.

The ability for ex-pats to apply for more types of visas to visit the UAE as a desirable tourist destination will be expanded thanks to these new entry permits. Tourists and foreigners who reside in and work in the UAE will benefit from the new reform. As a consequence, well to do individuals and visitors from outside who want to settle here for the long term will find the UAE to be even more attractive.

Cabinet Decision No. 65 for 2022 for the executive regulations of federal decree-law no. 29 for 2021 regarding foreigners' entry and residency:

Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, issued  Cabinet Decision No. 65 for 2022 , which sets down the executive rules for Federal Decree-Law No. 29 for 2021 addressing foreigners' entry and residency.

The ruling specifies that the rules outlined in the appendix included with the judgement will apply to the golden residence and will go into effect on September 5, 2022. The order, recently published in the Official Gazette, establishes rules and processes for embassies and consular organizations representing the UAE overseas and issuing visas.

New residency reforms to tourist and new entry permits in the UAE:

The following amendments to tourist visas and new entry permits in the UAE are effective immediately:

The new visa will be available starting in September 2022 and will enable visitors to the UAE to remain for 60 days as opposed to the previous 30 days. According to new regulations published in April 2022, new immigrants to the UAE will begin receiving a 60-day visit visa in September. Holidaymakers and those moving to Dubai will have twice as much time there, thanks to several improvements to the UAE's visit and resident visa system. In the past, several nations, including visitors from the UK, US, and Australia, were granted a 30-day visa upon arrival. Following the 30-day term, you would have nine days of grace before paying to renew your visa or risk incurring daily penalties of Dhs 100.

  • Multi-entry tourist visa

Besides the standard tourist visa sponsored by UAE tourism businesses, a five-year, and multiple-entry visa is now available. This much-expected admission visa will enable visitors to take a deeper look at the UAE. There is no sponsor needed for this new visa. To be eligible, the applicant must have maintained a bank balance of $4,000 (or an equivalent amount in another currency) for the six months before the visa application. One requirement for staying in the UAE for 90 straight days is that you cannot remain for more than 180 consecutive days in a calendar year.

  • Job exploration Entry Visa

This visa does not need a sponsor or host. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization ranks those who get it in the first, second, or third skill level and also college graduates from the top 500 universities globally. Having a bachelor's degree or its equivalent qualifies as the minimal educational qualification.

  • Business entry visa

The objective of this entrance permit, which doesn't call for a sponsor or host, is to entice investors and businesspeople to research business and investment prospects in the UAE.

  • Entry permit to visit relatives or friends

According to the most recent revision, a visitor may apply for this entry permission if they are a friend or family of a UAE national or resident. Both a sponsor and a host are not necessary.

  • Entry permit for training and study

This license is designed for people doing training and education courses and participating in internship programs. The sponsor may be a university, an accredited research institution, a government agency, or a private business. It needs a letter from the organization outlining the specifics of the study, training, or internship program, as well as how long it will last.

  • Entry permit for a temporary work mission

This Entry Permit is meant for those who have a short-term job, such as a probationary period or a project-based mission. The employer is supporting this visa. It needs a temporary employment agreement or a letter from the employer outlining the reason for the visit and documentation of one's physical and mental fitness for the job.

You might not require a company, person, airline, or hotel to sponsor the visa if you intend to travel or migrate to the UAE. You can now think about any of the following residents and visit visa choices, which you can apply for on your own, due to the UAE creating new visa categories and revamping its visa system as of October 3, 2022:

1. Golden Visa

The Golden Residence is a 10-year residence visa that is granted to the following categories:

– Public investment

– Real estate investment

  • Entrepreneurs

– Owner of a registered successful startup

– The approved idea of a startup

– Previous founder of a successful startup that was sold inside or outside the UAE

  • Exceptional Talents

– Culture & Art

– Digital Technology

– Inventors & Innovators

– Sports

– Other Vital Fields

  • Scientists & Professionals

– Scientists

– Chief Executives and Senior Officials

– Science Professionals

– Engineering Professionals

– Scientists & Professionals

– Health Professionals

– Education Professionals

– Business and Administration Professionals

– Information Technology Professionals

– Legal, Social, and Cultural Professional

  • Outstanding Students & Graduates

– Best performing students in secondary schools

– Best graduates from UAE universities

– Distinguished members of international and regional organizations

– Outstanding members of associations of public benefit

– Recipients of recognition awards in humanitarian fields

– Distinguished volunteers and sponsors of humanitarian efforts

  • Frontline Heroes

– Frontline workers with extraordinary efforts in crises like Covid-19 Pandemic

The ability to sponsor one is just one of the advantages of the Golden Visa.

– Renewable every 10 years.

– Duration of stay outside the UAE does not nullify the Golden Residence. Normally, staying outside the UAE for more than six months renders a residence visa invalid.

– No sponsor or employer is required.

– Residence for family members including spouse and children with no age limit.

– There is no upper limit on the number of domestic assistants who may be sponsored.

– In the case that the original Golden Residence holder passes away, family members may continue to reside in the UAE until the expiration of their visas.

– A unique, multiple-entry visa with a six-month validity period will be given to applicants so they can travel to the UAE and complete the Golden Visa application procedure.

2. Residence visa

According to the announcement made by the UAE Cabinet, the following residence visa categories do not need a local sponsor:

– Remote work residence (One-year visa)

– Retirement residence (Five-year visa)

– Real Estate Owners’ Residence (Two years)

3. Green Visa

The five-year Green Visa is available for the following categories:

  • Freelancers
  • Skilled employees
  • Investors and partners

Applicants under all these categories can get a visa for self-sponsorship.

4. Five-year multiple-entry tourist visas

A five-year tourist visa to the UAE is also available without a sponsor. A copy of your bank statement with a balance of at least $4,000 (Dh14,692) or its equivalent in foreign currencies in the previous six months is required in addition to a copy of a health insurance policy that is valid in the UAE during your stay.

5. Visit visa to visit relatives or friends

People can apply for a number of visit visa categories without a local sponsor, according to the UAE Cabinet’s announcement regarding the new visas that took effect this month. This covers the visitation visa for family and friends.

6. Jobseeker visa

A local sponsor is also not necessary for the visit visa to look into employment opportunities. Under this category, you can apply for a two-month, three-month, or four-month visa.

7. Visit visa to explore business opportunities

The visit visa for exploring business opportunities is another type of visit visa that does not require a company or person with a place of business in the UAE as a sponsor.

For example, citizens of India holding ordinary passports, a visit visa or permanent resident card issued by the USA, or a residence visa in the UK and European Union countries valid for at least six months, allows for a visa on arrival. This grants a stay of 14 days, with the option to extend for an additional 14 days.

In cases where prior visa arrangements are necessary, individuals not falling under visa exemption categories must obtain an entry permit issued by a sponsor before arriving in the UAE. The type of entry permit required, issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, depends on the purpose of the visit.

UAE: Foreigners allowed to get visas without sponsor

uae tourist visa without sponsor

The Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security (ICA) has allowed foreigners abroad to apply for obtaining 5 types of entry visas to the country directly without a sponsor or mediator, through the authority’s website or the UAEICP smart app.

ICA called on individuals abroad wishing to enter the UAE for the purpose of tourism, work or living to access the smart services provided through the website and to apply for a visa, directly without a sponsor or mediator.

ICA added that the electronically available visas which a foreigner abroad can apply for are: a 6-month visa with several entries to complete the golden visa procedures, a 5-year long-term tourist visa for all nationalities with several entries, a visa for holders of special visas from nationals of the Republic of India residing in America, Britain, EU countries, a visa for the visa-exempt countries nationals (entry permit) and the virtual work residence visa.

ICA clarified the conditions and requirements for each visa, in addition to required documents and provided an introductory guide to all the steps of application and the prescribed fees.

It indicated that the applicant for a 6-month visa with several entries to complete the golden visa procedures, can obtain an entry permit for a period of 6 months, which can be extended for a similar period.

The authority added that the applicant for a 5-year long-term tourist visa for all nationalities (several entries) can apply for it without a sponsor, and it allows him to stay in the country for a continuous period not exceeding 90 days, with the possibility of extending it for another period, provided that the total stay period does not exceed 180 days per year.

The authority also pointed out that holders of special visas (nationals of the Republic of India residing in America, Britain, and European Union countries) can obtain a visa such as the USA visa and the residence visa in the European Union countries.

In the UAE, residents with certain visas can sponsor family members to live in the country without a job.

If you are unemployed or a student under the age of 18, you need to be sponsored by a family member to remain in the Emirates year-round .

In October 2022, changes to the law meant that residents can now bring their parents and their spouse's parents without having to show they are the only source of support.

However, a minimum monthly salary is still required.

Here is everything you need to know about sponsoring family members.

What monthly income is required to sponsor parents or underage siblings?

To sponsor parents or underage siblings, the minimum salary threshold required is higher than for a wife or child.

Residents can sponsor up to five family members if they earn a minimum monthly salary of Dh10,000.

This increases to six family members if they earn at least Dh15,000 a month.

For more than six family members, dispensation is required.

The fee for sponsoring parents is Dh1,750, plus a refundable Dh5,000 deposit.

“Setting a minimum salary as a condition for expatriates wishing to sponsor family members is only to ensure they will be properly provided for,” said Nida Al Masri, a legal consultant at Justitia Advocates and Legal Consultants in Dubai.

“The terms and conditions are important to regulate this procedure, which reflects the UAE's commitment to supporting its expatriate community and creating a more inclusive society.”

Which accommodation is required to sponsor parents?

The law requires that sponsors are already in suitable accommodation before they apply for the family visa.

This is classified as at least a two-bedroom house or flat, before they apply for the family visa.

They must also present supporting documents that prove family ties at residency centres.

What documents do you need to sponsor parents?

The following documents should also be submitted:

  • Passport-size photograph of the family member
  • Copy of the family member's valid passport
  • Copy of the resident's Emirates ID, passport and residency page.
  • Proof of residence, such as a lease contract
  • Labour contract
  • Three months of bank statements for the resident

Can a woman sponsor her family?

In Abu Dhabi, a woman can sponsor her husband and children if the request is approved by the authorities, according to a customer service agent of the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship – ICA .

“She should have a valid work visa and her monthly salary should be at least Dh5,000. The cost of the one-year visa is Dh2,575 and it can be renewed for one more year,” said the executive.

In Dubai, a woman can sponsor her family, but her monthly salary should be at least Dh4,000 and her request must be approved by the GDRFA, the immigration authority.

“A wife can sponsor the family, but she has to obtain an no objection certificate from the husband. The NOC has to be notarised by the Dubai court notary service,” an Amer customer service representative said.

A single mother can also sponsor her child.

What does it cost to sponsor a spouse or child?

A husband can sponsor his immediate family members, such as his wife and children, if they have a minimum salary of Dh4,000 or Dh3,000 plus accommodation.

If these conditions are met, the husband must open a registration file.

This costs between Dh200 to Dh300 if they are outside the UAE, rising to up to four times as much if they are in the country, due to the price of the entry permit and the charge for change of status, according to the Amer Centre for visa services.

The medical test, Emirates ID typing and visa stamping will come to around Dh1,000 altogether. All costs are per person and there is no security deposit needed. Medical tests are not needed for children under 18.

Parents can sponsor sons who are 18 and can continue to do so until they are 25 . Unmarried daughters and disabled children are granted a residency permit regardless of their age.

The documents and the visa costs are the same and it is valid for two years.

90-day visit visa for family members

UAE residents can apply for 90-day entry permits for family members, rather than a 60-day visa, before sponsorship is finalised.

“The resident should have a refundable deposit of Dh1,000 to issue a visit visa for the family members,” the Amer Centre representative said.

The fee for an entry permit is Dh1,020 and the following documents should be submitted:

  • copy of the family member's valid passport
  • copy of the resident's Emirates ID
  • proof of residence, such as a lease contract or hotel reservation
  • copy of a return ticket

Visas can also be applied for online at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs website, or on the department's app.
