Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong (L) and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker are going on tour in 2024.

Ah, the ’90s.

Gen X’s heyday was a simpler time. Before we were chronically online or chasing clout, Beanie Babies and “The Macarena” reigned supreme.

Life was good — and the music was great.

Major rock bands like Green Day , Foo Fighters , Blink 182 , Third Eye Blind and Red Hot Chili Peppers exploded onto the scene.

Hip-Hop icons Wu-Tang Clan , Busta Rhymes and Ice Cube blew up; singer-songwriters Madonna , Alanis Morrissette and Sarah McLachlan cemented their reputations as genre-defining superstars.

Now, nearly a quarter century removed from the turn of the Millennium, all of those ’90s icons — and more! — are still pounding the pavement.

And that’s where we enter the AOL chat room.

If you came of age during the “Slacker” era or think pre-Y2K music is “da bomb,” we’re here to help you re-live the glorious decade all over again with our list of the 58 biggest concert tours featuring ’90s artists separated by music genre below.

All you have to do is scroll.

We’ll see you at the show (waving a bic lighter in the air like it’s 1995, of course).

The 15 Best Tour Operators in 2022

These are the companies Travel + Leisure readers trust to provide them with travel expertise and memorable experiences.

90s tour operators

Note: If you’re looking for our most recent recommendations, check out the 2023 list of our favorite tour operators .

When it comes to an itinerary, Travel + Leisure readers want more than a string of photo opportunities — and the right tour operator makes all the difference in creating a trip of a lifetime versus one that simply checks off a list of sights. This year, our readers were especially drawn to companies that utilize local expertise and experience to thoughtfully design trips that will entertain as well as inspire.

Every year for our World's Best Awards survey , T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated tour operators and safari outfitters based on their staff and guides, itineraries and destinations, activities, accommodations, food, and overall value.

The top picks were noted for their deep knowledge of destinations and guides who "go the extra mile." One reader who has been traveling for more than five decades said a trip with Classic Journeys (No. 2) was the "very best" they had experienced. Others noted attention to pandemic safety details, while one who went to Norway was charmed by a "wonderful surprise dinner in Bergen out on the water that was fantastic."

Tour operators that seamlessly navigated the logistics of a trip also came out on top. Quasar Expeditions (No. 9) was noted "for really planning out every detail" so that "all you have to do is show up and have a great time." Meanwhile, of TCS World Travel (No. 10), a guest said: "You never lift a finger and just spend your time actually exploring the destination." They even added that they "learned so much" along the way.

Among the five companies on this year's list that weren't on last year's were two women-only tour operators that cater to travelers of all ages. AdventureWomen (No. 14) has multiday tours designed by women from Bhutan to Yellowstone National Park, while Explorer Chick (No. 15) has everything from day trips — like glassblowing in Baltimore and cave rappelling in St. Louis — to full itineraries in Machu Picchu and the Galápagos. One reader said her Everest Base Camp trip with AdventureWomen was filled with "like-minded women" who "bonded so well," while another said she felt it was a "safe tour group for women."

No matter which tour they chose, readers were most taken by the people they met along the way, as one said of Trek Travel (No. 13): "By the end of the trip, a group of strangers felt like longtime friends." Find out which other companies round out the list of the best tour operators below.

1. DuVine Cycling + Adventure Co.

A tour with DuVine goes far beyond just riding a bike — it's a way to really see the character of a destination. Case in point: even those who say they're not necessarily cycling fans have been converted. That's part of what helped the tour operator — which runs trips in Europe, the U.S., Latin America, and Africa — skyrocket from No. 14 last year to this year's top spot. Its "top-notch biking equipment" and "challenging but doable itineraries" didn't hurt either. One reader was especially taken by a guide picking figs off of a local tree in Puglia for an extra energy boost during a tough climb, as well as another guide singing to the group after dinner. As another reader put it simply: "They exceed your expectations."

10 popular '90s artists going on tour in 2024

Every era seems to make a comeback decades later, and as of the late 2010s, the 1990s revival has officially been in full swing. In the past several years, we've seen fashion trends like Adidas slides and bucket hats become stylish again, while studios have rebooted popular '90s movies, like the "Scream" franchise, and TV shows like "Saved by the Bell" and "Full House"—and it doesn't stop there.

Reunion tours have also seen a resurgence, with '90s artists ranging from TLC and the Fugees to Blondie stepping foot on stage for the first time in years. Fans are willing to fork out big bucks to see their favorite groups get back together, and many artists are capitalizing on the interest, while others would rather generate buzz about a potential reunion ( we're looking at you, 'N Sync ).

There are also '90s bands that never stopped touring and are now cashing in on nostalgia in other ways, like album anniversary tours.

This year sees the trend continue, with Creed announcing their first shows in 12 years and Blink-182 continuing their highly anticipated reunion tour with Tom DeLonge. Other acts, like Weezer and Sarah McLachlan, are celebrating milestone album anniversaries in big ways, and New Kids on the Block are reprising their famous "Magic Summer" tour.

To help original fans and younger crowds discovering these artists for the first time, Stacker compiled a list of 10 popular '90s artists going on tour in 2024 with the help of music publications and press releases. Read on to see who's hitting the road this year and what makes their tour special.

Scott Phillips, Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti of Creed.

In October 2023, Creed surprised fans by announcing their first tour in over a decade. Billed as the "Summer of '99 Tour," the post-grunge band plans to hit the road in 2024 for a 40-show run featuring fellow '90s rockers 3 Doors Down as support for most shows.

"I feel like I'm as strong as I've ever been vocally, and looking forward to sharing the stage with the guys again," frontman Scott Stapp said in a statement about the tour. "The fans have clearly let us know they feel it's long overdue. I want to give them what they deserve. I'm ready to bring it."

Creed released four studio albums between 1997 and 2009. Their sophomore album, 1999's "Human Clay," helped them reach superstar status and has sold 11.7 million copies.

Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Jim Sonefeld of Hootie & The Blowfish.

Hootie & the Blowfish

Before becoming a country sensation in 2008, rocker Darius Rucker fronted Hootie & the Blowfish. The band's 1994 debut album, "Cracked Rear View," catapulted them into mainstream fame and is still among the top 10 best-selling albums in U.S. history , nearly 30 years after its release.

The alt-rockers announced in November 2023 that they're hitting the road on the " Summer Camp With Trucks Tour " in 2024, accompanied by fellow '90s stars Collective Soul as well as musician Edwin McCain. The 43-date North American trek is Hootie & the Blowfish's first tour since 2019.

Hootie guitarist Mark Bryan reminisced about the band's previous adventures , recalling McCain likening the experience of touring with the band to "summer camp with trucks." That experience is "exactly how we want next year to feel, too," Bryan said in a statement about the upcoming shows.

Shania Twain singing onstage in a black sparkly outfit.

Shania Twain

Shania Twain is gearing up to spend the latter half of 2024 in Las Vegas, performing her 24-date "Come On Over" residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino's Bakkt Theater. This is quite a comeback, considering the country star went nearly a decade without singing at all after contracting Lyme disease in 2003 . In 2011, after undergoing two "open-throat" surgeries, Twain could project her voice again—and that's a reason to celebrate, for both Twain and her fans.

Twain reflected on her overwhelming success in the late '90s and early 2000s, telling Billboard, "It's funny, because I don't have very vivid memories of that time, because it was such a whirlwind." After releasing 1997's "Come On Over," Twain said: "It was single after single, and video after video. It was as if I couldn't keep up. … I was hands-on with everything, and it exhausted me. So I didn't get to enjoy a lot of it in the moment. But I'm celebrating now."

"Come On Over" produced seven #1 singles and is the bestselling album by a solo woman artist in history.

Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus & Travis Barker of Blink 182.

In 2022, Blink-182 set fans into a frenzy when they reunited with guitarist Tom DeLonge after a seven-year hiatus and announced a 2023 world tour. After DeLonge's departure from the band in 2015, Blink continued releasing music and touring with Matt Skiba, but 2023 marked the first time the band's classic lineup took the stage together in nearly a decade. That same year, they released a new album called "One More Time" and will be touring the world again in 2024 .

While the reunion news was happy, the reason behind it was less so: Bassist Mark Hoppus was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 , and his illness is what rekindled his relationship with DeLonge.

"When he told me he was sick, that's the gnarliest… like, nothing matters, really," DeLonge recalled in a trailer promoting "One More Time." "It wasn't about fame or money or how big Blink was or anything, it was like, 'You're gonna get through this s—, and we're gonna go dominate.'" Hoppus announced he was cancer-free in September 2021.

This isn't the first time Blink's classic lineup has reunited since Travis Barker joined the band in 1998. They also took an extended hiatus in 2005 before reuniting four years later.

Sarah McLachlan singing.

Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan is hitting the road in 2024 for the first time since 2016 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her 1993 album "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy." The 30-date tour will see the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter play her third album, plus some other hits.

"It's such a fun concept to play a record start to finish," she told Today.com about the anniversary tour, describing "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" as her "personal favorite" and "the easiest record I ever wrote."

The album features singles like "Good Enough," "Possession," and "Hold On" and was the Canadian musician's first album to enter the U.S. charts .

Green Day.

Green Day is going all out in 2024 with a tour that celebrates three albums : their latest record, "Saviors"; 2004's "American Idiot"; and 1994's "Dookie." " The Saviors Tour " promises to harken back to the '90s, with the Smashing Pumpkins, the Linda Lindas, and Rancid accompanying the band as support for the North American leg.

"Dookie" was Green Day's breakthrough album , featuring the singles "Welcome to Paradise," "Basket Case," "Longview," and "When I Come Around." It's the third album in their discography, and "Saviors" marks their 14th.

Rex Brown playing the guitar.

Yes, Pantera originated in the '80s, but it was their 1990 album "Cowboys from Hell" that transformed the band from glam rock nobodies into metal icons, launching them into superstardom. Thirteen years after "Cowboys," the band split acrimoniously , and a reunion didn't seem to be in the cards—especially after the deaths of founding members and brothers "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott in 2004 and Vinnie Paul Abbott in 2018.

After a handful of shows in 2022, however, a full-blown reunion took place in 2023 and is continuing in 2024 . Guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante will join longtime members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown to celebrate the legacies of the late founding members.

"Only thing I can say is, man, I know for a d— fact Vince and Dime would want us to do this, hands down," Anselmo told The Metallica Report podcast of the reunion. "They would want the Pantera brand or the legacy to go on. And I don't know what you believe in, but sometimes, you know, you would like to think that them old fellas are looking down on us, giving us the thumbs-up."

New Kids On The Block performing at a superbowl, surrounded by people in costumes.

New Kids on the Block

Before there was 'N Sync or the Backstreet Boys, there was New Kids on the Block. The pioneering boy band got their start in the late '80s, but NKOTB is still synonymous with the '90s. This year, they're celebrating that era with the "Magic Summer 2024" tour , kicking off in June.

The string of shows is a callback to the group's 1990 "Magic Summer Tour" and will feature support from two other '90s icons: Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

"The true 'magic' of this tour is in the music, the moments and the memories that we get to create—and recreate—with our amazing fans each night," NKOTB's Donnie Wahlberg said in a statement . "Feeling all the nostalgic feels of the original Magic Summer, with the bond that we've shared throughout the years, will make for a most magical time indeed."

Slipknot.

Slipknot played their first show at the end of 1995 under the moniker Meld, but it was the release of their 1999 self-titled debut album that solidified their place as metal icons. With 2024 marking the album's 25th anniversary, the masked rockers have big plans: Slipknot has already announced a handful of U.S. festival dates , along with a European and U.K. tour. And according to founding member Shawn "Clown" Crahan, that's not all fans can expect in 2024.

When asked in a recent interview if Slipknot plans to play the album in full on tour, the percussionist had a blunt response. "Are you joking right now? You're talking about the anniversary of one of the greatest metal albums to ever release in the thought process known as reality," Crahan told Kerrang! "You think for one moment that this album isn't going to be played in its entirety in front of, like, a hundred people, 200 people, 300 people, 50,000 people. I'm not going to live forever, man. Neither is everybody else. Things are changing very quickly. I ain't got no more time to f— around."

He also suggested the band would be playing some surprise shows this year too. "We're going to have fun, too. So that means small shows and you won't know until you hear it. And if you heard it, you're already too late and you're not going to see it. So you better open up your soul, because then you'll feel it and you won't have to hear it, because I'm being very serious," he said. "It's really going to be an exciting 2024, and I think things are going to happen that you wouldn't think ever could."

Weezer.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Weezer's self-titled debut album , famously known as "The Blue Album," and it sounds like they're scheming something exciting—they just haven't revealed what it is yet.

"We are going to give it its due respect and come out with a really amazing deluxe package with a bunch of additional material, and of course, we've gotta do some kind of epic tour," frontman Rivers Cuomo told Collider.

The alt-rock heroes are scheduled to play the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta this May and have a handful of U.K. tour dates with the Smashing Pumpkins in June, but other than that, 2024 is a clean slate. There might be a reason for that. "I think the public tour dates cut off in June and then there's this very suspicious blank space in our calendar for months after that," Cuomo said, "so I'd keep your eye on that."

"The Blue Album" features two of Weezer's biggest hits: "Say It Ain't So" and "Undone (The Sweater Song)."

10 popular '90s artists going on tour in 2024

The pioneering boy band got their start in the late '80s, but NKOTB is still synonymous with...

( Stacker ) - Every era seems to make a comeback decades later, and as of the late 2010s, the 1990s revival has officially been in full swing. In the past several years, we’ve seen fashion trends like Adidas slides and bucket hats become stylish again, while studios have rebooted popular ‘90s movies, like the “Scream” franchise, and TV shows like “Saved by the Bell” and “Full House”—and it doesn’t stop there.

Reunion tours have also seen a resurgence, with ‘90s artists ranging from TLC and the Fugees to Blondie stepping foot on stage for the first time in years. Fans are willing to fork out big bucks to see their favorite groups get back together, and many artists are capitalizing on the interest, while others would rather generate buzz about a potential reunion (we’re looking at you, ‘N Sync).

There are also ‘90s bands that never stopped touring and are now cashing in on nostalgia in other ways, like album anniversary tours.

This year sees the trend continue, with Creed announcing their first shows in 12 years and Blink-182 continuing their highly anticipated reunion tour with Tom DeLonge. Other acts, like Weezer and Sarah McLachlan, are celebrating milestone album anniversaries in big ways, and New Kids on the Block are reprising their famous “Magic Summer” tour.

To help original fans and younger crowds discover these artists for the first time, Stacker compiled a list of 10 popular ‘90s artists going on tour in 2024 with the help of music publications and press releases. Read on to see who’s hitting the road this year and what makes their tour special.

In October 2023, Creed surprised fans by announcing their first tour in over a decade. Billed as the “Summer of ‘99 Tour,” the post-grunge band plans to hit the road in 2024 for a 40-show run featuring fellow ‘90s rockers 3 Doors Down as support for most shows.

“I feel like I’m as strong as I’ve ever been vocally, and looking forward to sharing the stage with the guys again,” frontman Scott Stapp said in a statement about the tour. “The fans have clearly let us know they feel it’s long overdue. I want to give them what they deserve. I’m ready to bring it.”

Creed released four studio albums between 1997 and 2009. Their sophomore album, 1999′s “Human Clay,” helped them reach superstar status and has sold 11.7 million copies.

Hootie & the Blowfish

Before becoming a country sensation in 2008, rocker Darius Rucker fronted Hootie & the Blowfish. The band’s 1994 debut album, “Cracked Rear View,” catapulted them into mainstream fame and is still among the top 10 best-selling albums in U.S. history, nearly 30 years after its release.

The alt-rockers announced in November 2023 that they’re hitting the road on the “Summer Camp With Trucks Tour” in 2024, accompanied by fellow ‘90s stars Collective Soul as well as musician Edwin McCain. The 43-date North American trek is Hootie & the Blowfish’s first tour since 2019.

Hootie guitarist Mark Bryan reminisced about the band’s previous adventures, recalling McCain likening the experience of touring with the band to “summer camp with trucks.” That experience is “exactly how we want next year to feel, too,” Bryan said in a statement about the upcoming shows.

Shania Twain

Shania Twain is gearing up to spend the latter half of 2024 in Las Vegas, performing her 24-date “Come On Over” residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Bakkt Theater. This is quite a comeback, considering the country star went nearly a decade without singing at all after contracting Lyme disease in 2003. In 2011, after undergoing two “open-throat” surgeries, Twain could project her voice again—and that’s a reason to celebrate, for both Twain and her fans.

Twain reflected on her overwhelming success in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, telling Billboard, “It’s funny, because I don’t have very vivid memories of that time, because it was such a whirlwind.” After releasing 1997′s “Come On Over,” Twain said: “It was single after single, and video after video. It was as if I couldn’t keep up. … I was hands-on with everything, and it exhausted me. So I didn’t get to enjoy a lot of it in the moment. But I’m celebrating now.”

“Come On Over” produced seven #1 singles and is the bestselling album by a solo woman artist in history.

In 2022, Blink-182 set fans into a frenzy when they reunited with guitarist Tom DeLonge after a seven-year hiatus and announced a 2023 world tour. After DeLonge’s departure from the band in 2015, Blink continued releasing music and touring with Matt Skiba, but 2023 marked the first time the band’s classic lineup took the stage together in nearly a decade. That same year, they released a new album called “One More Time” and will be touring the world again in 2024.

While the reunion news was happy, the reason behind it was less so: Bassist Mark Hoppus was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, and his illness is what rekindled his relationship with DeLonge.

“When he told me he was sick, that’s the gnarliest… like, nothing matters, really,” DeLonge recalled in a trailer promoting “One More Time.” “It wasn’t about fame or money or how big Blink was or anything, it was like, ‘You’re gonna get through this s—, and we’re gonna go dominate.’” Hoppus announced he was cancer-free in September 2021.

This isn’t the first time Blink’s classic lineup has reunited since Travis Barker joined the band in 1998. They also took an extended hiatus in 2005 before reuniting four years later.

Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan is hitting the road in 2024 for the first time since 2016 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her 1993 album “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.” The 30-date tour will see the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter play her third album, plus some other hits.

“It’s such a fun concept to play a record start to finish,” she told Today.com about the anniversary tour, describing “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” as her “personal favorite” and “the easiest record I ever wrote.”

The album features singles like “Good Enough,” “Possession,” and “Hold On” and was the Canadian musician’s first album to enter the U.S. charts.

Green Day is going all out in 2024 with a tour that celebrates three albums: their latest record, “Saviors”; 2004′s “American Idiot”; and 1994′s “Dookie.” “The Saviors Tour” promises to harken back to the ‘90s, with the Smashing Pumpkins, the Linda Lindas, and Rancid accompanying the band as support for the North American leg.

“Dookie” was Green Day’s breakthrough album, featuring the singles “Welcome to Paradise,” “Basket Case,” “Longview,” and “When I Come Around.” It’s the third album in their discography, and “Saviors” marks their 14th.

Yes, Pantera originated in the ‘80s, but it was their 1990 album “Cowboys from Hell” that transformed the band from glam rock nobodies into metal icons, launching them into superstardom. Thirteen years after “Cowboys,” the band split acrimoniously, and a reunion didn’t seem to be in the cards—especially after the deaths of founding members and brothers “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott in 2004 and Vinnie Paul Abbott in 2018.

After a handful of shows in 2022, however, a full-blown reunion took place in 2023 and is continuing in 2024. Guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante will join longtime members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown to celebrate the legacies of the late founding members.

“Only thing I can say is, man, I know for a d— fact Vince and Dime would want us to do this, hands down,” Anselmo told The Metallica Report podcast of the reunion. “They would want the Pantera brand or the legacy to go on. And I don’t know what you believe in, but sometimes, you know, you would like to think that them old fellas are looking down on us, giving us the thumbs-up.”

New Kids on the Block

Before there was ‘N Sync or the Backstreet Boys, there was New Kids on the Block. The pioneering boy band got their start in the late ‘80s, but NKOTB is still synonymous with the ‘90s. This year, they’re celebrating that era with the “Magic Summer 2024″ tour, kicking off in June.

The string of shows is a callback to the group’s 1990 “Magic Summer Tour” and will feature support from two other ‘90s icons: Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

“The true ‘magic’ of this tour is in the music, the moments and the memories that we get to create—and recreate—with our amazing fans each night,” NKOTB’s Donnie Wahlberg said in a statement. “Feeling all the nostalgic feels of the original Magic Summer, with the bond that we’ve shared throughout the years, will make for a most magical time indeed.”

Slipknot played their first show at the end of 1995 under the moniker Meld, but it was the release of their 1999 self-titled debut album that solidified their place as metal icons. With 2024 marking the album’s 25th anniversary, the masked rockers have big plans: Slipknot has already announced a handful of U.S. festival dates, along with a European and U.K. tour. And according to founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan, that’s not all fans can expect in 2024.

When asked in a recent interview if Slipknot plans to play the album in full on tour, the percussionist had a blunt response. “Are you joking right now? You’re talking about the anniversary of one of the greatest metal albums to ever release in the thought process known as reality,” Crahan told Kerrang! “You think for one moment that this album isn’t going to be played in its entirety in front of, like, a hundred people, 200 people, 300 people, 50,000 people. the tour itself was amazing. The national parks do not disappoint. The travel accomodations were very cramped and uncomfortable. I am only 5 foot tall and I was cramped in this 14 passenger van. Food opportunities were limited.
Fantastic experience - efficient use of time, great itinerary. Well-informed and interesting guide who is also just a great person.

We have chosen the tour specifically because it was in German and also in other languages shown. Also on our voucher was again confirmed the tour with professional, German-speaking tour guide. Unfortunately, the tour guides did not speak German. We were able to help ourselves a bit with the translation app but we also missed a lot of information. We are very disappointed about this and expect compensation. The tour guides have tried and were very nice also the tour was very nice.

Amazing tour I did the tour end of March amazing trip. A little colder than I expected but I still had an awesome and fabulous time. I regretted I did not take the helicopter tour for the Grand canyon. Zion is also beautiful do anticipate the shuttle bus ride that theres a lot people and could take you up more time as theres very long line up. Antelope canyon was my highlight for this tour its incredibly beautiful. Take the Navajo guided tour- you won't regret it. Hogan was very patient with us and very informative. Highly recommended.
I cannot recommend this trip enough. It was the best I've ever been on! Bindlestiff took us to so many places and saw so much and yet, it didn't feel rushed at all. The magnitude of National and State parks that we covered was remarkable, and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in each. The group was very small- only 6 people. As a solo traveler, this was perfect because it allowed us to get to know each other and the friendly vibes felt so natural (no loneliness here!) Besides the sights, the obvious best thing about this trip was our guide, Joseph. He was the perfect balance of knowledgeable and fun, always making every effort to answer our questions, provide his own anecdotes and accommodate any of our special requests or preferences. Joseph is incredible and a true professional. The accomodation throughout the trip was excellent- all my needs were met and exceeded. Most hotels provided breakfast and, in the few incidences that they didn't, readily accessible alternatives were available. At first, I was concerned that picnic lunches would reduce the amount of time that we had to explore the sights. This wasn't the case at all. Joseph ensured that all lunches were well-catered and smoothly run. Originally, I'd planned to organize and self-navigate a trip similar to this all by myself. I am extremely glad that this plan didn't work out. Bindlestiff is an amazing company. If you are on the fence about booking this trip, don't be! You, like me, won't regret it for a single second.

My son and I had a great hiking adventure on the Sedona tour! The scenery was stunning, the hikes were fun! Tolman was an excellent guide, who was very knowledgeable about the area, he had great hiking tips, and he picked some enjoyable challenging hikes for us! He was also an excellent cook! He prepared us some great meals! His positive outlook on everything helped the group of strangers on the trek quickly bond which led us all to have a great hiking experience!
Overall: Overall, the Canadian Rockies are spectacular. All of the people in our group were fun to be with, and we made some great friends. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, patient, and flexible given the physical abilities (or inabilities) of the members of the group and tried to tailor the tour to accommodate as many people in the activities as possible. My issue was with Intrepid's misrepresentation of the physical activity level rating, the inaccurate pricing of optional activities, the required travel insurance policy, the sub-par lodging, and the labeling of the trip as a Northern Lights trip when there were only 2 nights out of 10 listed in the itinerary that gave us an opportunity to see them. Lodging: The hotels were sub-par. The Metterra in Edmonton didn’t have a functioning hair dryer and the TV didn’t work (during the SuperBowl) The Holiday Inn Express in Slave Lake didn't have a functioning fireplace in the lobby, where we gathered to eat dinner. It was cold as it was adjacent to the front doors the were constantly opening and closing. The TV in the breakfast room and where we met to eat take out dinner was on a political station and the volume was loud. The person working at the front desk stated that the remote control had been stolen, so we couldn't turn it off or adjust the volume. The Lake Louise Inn had disgusting carpeting that we didn’t even want to walk on with bare feet. The Rundlestone Lodge in Banff did not have any food or drink options in the hotel and we had to walk to another hotel to get our included breakfast. The breakfast at that hotel was also sub-par. The eggs were powdered eggs. The bread, bagels, and pastries were all stale and hard. Everyone had a room where the window looked DIRECTLY into the pool area. It was noisy with kids screaming at the pool. One of the members of our group had to pay to upgrade her room, so she wouldn't have to hear the noise from the pool area until 10:30 PM. Intrepid Activity Level rating: Intrepid listed this physical activity level rating as a 2/5, which is one step above sunbathing. It said that the activities were easy and no prior physical fitness was necessary to do most of the activities. First, many of the activities were done at higher altitudes than most were accustomed to, which makes any activity more challenging. Second, walking on ice, hiking on steep mountain trails, and snowshoeing in deep snow require a much higher level of fitness than casual walking. Itinerary: The itinerary was labeled a Canadian Rockies and Northern Lights tour. There were only 2 nights listed on the itinerary (in Slave Lake) that there was even an opportunity to go out to see them. The northern lights and weather conditions are unpredictable, so it should not be listed as a “northern lights tour” unless there would be an opportunity to see them every night. The tour guide had drive time restrictions and couldn’t take us out every night to remote areas to get the chance to see the northern lights. On an Iceland tour, we had our lodging (with restaurant and bar) in remote areas with minimal light pollution, so I could set my alarm a few times throughout the night to go outside to see if the lights were visible. The quality of northern lights can change on an hourly basis and it is not reasonable to expect to stay outside in a remote area without light pollution all night to see them. All the hotels we stayed at had significant light pollution preventing us from going outside the hotel to check the quality of the northern lights. Don’t label it a northern lights tour. It was a Canadian Rockies tour. Slave Lake activities: The ice fishing listed as a possible alternate activity was never discussed. No one said the lakes were safe or not safe for fishing. It was not discussed as an option at all. Snowshoeing was also listed as an activity at this location, but was not given as an option. Jasper activities: Walking on ice in the Maligne Canyon was challenging and risky for people who aren’t physically fit. There were a few people that had to skip the grotto for fear of injuring themselves by going further. Similarly, on the drive along the Icefields Parkway, none of us were able to hike all the way to the toe of Athabasca Glacier due to the level of fitness required. Lake Louise activites: Difficulties with the level of fitness required also impacted the hike at Johnston Canyon. Some people struggled but managed to make it to the lower bridge, but many could not go further due to the fitness level needed to hike up the steep trails. Snowshoeing was offered as an option and one group member had to insist to go snowshoeing here, since the terrain was flat. Otherwise, it was also not included as an option. Banff activities: This was the snowshoe hike at Sunshine Mountain. Despite it being listed as an option twice before on the itinerary, this was the first day we went as a group. It was challenging to say the least. Half of the group were not able to participate due to the level of fitness required that was misrepresented in the tour description rating. The next day the grotto ice walk was listed, but not offered and instead we went on a hike. Optional Activities: There was a SIGNIFICANT discrepancy of the prices listed for the optional activities on the tour description and the actual prices. It seems the prices listed by Intrepid were pre-COVID prices and had never been updated. I understand if there would be a minor difference in prices, but they were 40-70% higher than Intrepid quoted. Here are examples of the activity and price per person. Dogsledding (an anticipated highlight of the trip, which we ended up not going on due to price): Intrepid price $200 CAD and actual price was $315CAD. Lake Louise Sleigh ride: Intrepid price $37CAD and actual price was $52CAD Lake Louise Ice Skating including hockey stick: Intrepid price $20CAD and actual price was $29CAD Banff Hot Springs: Intrepid price $8CAD and actual price was $17.50CAD Travel Insurance: I have the AmEx Platinum card that has very good travel insurance coverage. Intrepid forced me to buy a separate policy stating that I needed a “policy number” and not just claims made coverage that my credit card supplies. I had to pay an extra $174USD to get travel insurance when my credit card already covers travel insurance. Then I found that one of the guests in our group used her credit card policy and did not require a separate travel insurance policy to go on this trip. That was infuriating! White Mountain Adventures: White Mountain Adventures was coordinating this trip and I felt they were at a disadvantage to plan a trip when the Intrepid itinerary and physical activity level was misrepresented prior to the trip. Scott, our tour guide, was very kind, knowledgeable, patient, accommodating, and flexible to try to meet the expectations and physical abilities of those on the tour.

I took the 5-day Coho tour starting in Vancouver. Our tour guide Kiera was just great and has always given us with a lot of interesting information about Canada in general, our surroundings, nature and trains. In general, you could ask her anything and thus got a life coach or Canada expert! Also our group was great! We were only 7th at the beginning and became a group of 11 in Banff, due to the fact that we were the last tour for the year. Together we had fun bus rides and marveled at the beauty of Canada. I really recommend everyone to do this tour! We saw so much that otherwise would not have been possible for one independently in the short amount of time! We also did a lot of great things as a group (campfires, cooking, game night, going out) and became great friends that definitely keep in touch! Keira also always asked us about our preferences, which also allowed us to decide for ourselves what we wanted to focus on! I really loved this flexibility! My expectations of the trip were definitely exceeded and I am overjoyed to have chosen it. The hostels were also all very pleasant and clean. The Wildness Hostel was definitely a highlight, which made the experience even more special. I would gladly give it more stars as I am absolutely convinced and can recommend it to everyone!
If you're looking to see the most beautiful parts of BC and Alberta without any of the hassle and cost of organising/driving then this tour is for you. You are taken through the most stunning parts of Canada, all the while making new friends and being as daring as you please with optional activities such as bungee jumping in canyons, ziplining down mountains and kayaking on glacial lakes. Is there lots of time spent on the road? Sure! But chatting to your fellow explorers and even just looking out the windows to marvel at the jaw-dropping landscape will pass the time quickly. There are only a few days of the tour that are heavy on travel and Moose have ensured that there are pit-stops at stunning locations along the way to keep you in the adventurous spirit. Travelling by bus also gives you access to places that are not as easily seen by car; Moraine lake for example (one of the most beautiful places on the trip) was only open to busses when we arrived, the car park having filled up for the day at 6am. Hostel accommodation was the perfect medium - I wasn't keen on camping but nor did I want to shell out on a tour with hotel stays at twice the price. Most of the hostels were brand new and immaculate (HI Banff, HI Whistler, HI Jasper). It was my first time in hostels and I was pleasantly surprised. Just remember to bring your flip-flops for the showers and some earplugs to block out any snorers! Also be aware that Rampart Creek (Rustic hostel stay in the mountains for 1 night only) has no flushing toilets or running water so prepare adequately for that one! For me, most things in life are about the people you experience it with and Moose didn’t disappoint. I know it’s pot-luck who you get in your group, but I think this tour does pull in like minded people and it was a pleasure to travel with everyone on my tour. Our Guide, Bruno, was also amazing and completely made our trip. He was knowledgeable, kept things fun and was every part a one-of-the gang as the rest of us. Only other thing to note, is that if you’re looking for a hiking-centred trip then perhaps this tour might disappoint. But if you’re willing to trade in a few hikes for incredible scenery, other outdoor activities (additional costs but great fun) and meeting like minded new people, then I promise you won’t regret it.

Great tour, good group size too
The tour was great, especially our guide Pasquale, who brought more flavour to all places we visited and did his best to show and teach us everything, meet everyone’s expectations and create a great atmosphere. Our driver Jacob also was very kind and supportive. Hotels had a good standard and necessary itinerary adaptions were on spot. In my point of view, the only shortfall was tour start and end (meeting/drop-off) points; which would work quite better starting and ending in a hotel, also offering pre and post tour accommodation for the ones arriving early or leaving late. Meeting points in public spaces when you have luggage is not comfortable and might cause problems to travellers. All the rest was great!

Could have had more included activities
The tour had a few bumps. It would have been better if there were some included meals. There was no information about some of the excursions such as where the island tour stopped.

It was my first group trip and also my first camping trip. I have to say it was one of the best trips I've been on. It was an adventure! We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights at Remote Camp. Tory and Dave took care of everything and made sure everyone had a great time. No matter what problem you had, they always helped each other! Dave cooked delicious food, we had marshmallows by the fire in the evening and it felt like family. It's a great tour and I can only recommend it to anyone! It certainly wasn't my last tour with Infinite Adventure! Many thanks to Tory, Dave and Natalie (who you could ask any question you wanted to know beforehand) for this unforgettable time! :)
Jump on the bus with Infinite Adventures for a magnificent Alaskan expedition! Dave and Tory are excellent guides and will keep you informed about the areas you visit and give expert advice. I found this to be a truly joyful experience!

Great trip Fresh Adventures! Well organized tour, wonderful resorts with powder skiing, nice breakfast, lunch and dinner venues. Nice accommodation. Fantastic guides both on and off the mountain. They knew the best places to ski and enjoy. I really enjoyed skiing together, dining together and hot pools as a group. Thanks Sam and Laurence!
My lifelong dream to come to the Yukon and it was everything I hoped for and more! High five to the Fresh Adventures crew for putting together an epic adventure I won't soon forget. The hikes were tough but absolutely worth it and the views from the top were unreal. I've been on a trip with Fresh Adventures in the Rockies before and was happy to see that they offered a Yukon trip as well. The guides, Carl and Alex were fun to be around and the rest of the group was amazing. Loved all the good times and the laughs in the van. Thanks for a great trip!

My first experience with an organized tour like this. Expense alone will limit future trips. Much more walking than my wife was prepared for. This alone reduced her enjoyment. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and thorough with his planning and execution. Andrew has a fun personality and very personable. One item that disappointed me was the shuttle from airport to resort at both ends of the
Insights Tours are always amazing and this one was no exception. Nice balance of free time to relax and experience Hawaii on your own with visits to places on the islands to experience the culture. Learned a lot of Hawaii’s history throughout our visit. Overall a lovely experience and would highly recommend if you want to visit Hawaii and learn more about the islands.

The Inbound Report

Covering the Inbound Tourism Industry Since 1996

Who Are Brazil’s Top 25 Travel Companies?

March 27, 2018 by Tom Berrigan

90s tour operators

—For as large as Brazil is, the tour operator segment is small, not much larger than a family reunion. The Brazil Tour Operators Association (Braztoa) says it has more than 90 tour operator members, although INBOUND found the number smaller when doing a search of the organization’s website.

—The small number of operators is deceptive, as it obscures the relationship between tour operators and travel agencies because, throughout Brazil, the office that houses a travel agency will also house a similarly branded tour operator. Someone making a booking at or through a travel agency will have a travel agent going to the tour operator component of the business it is a part of in order to assemble a package using an operator’s rates. Who gets credited with the booking?

The Association of Brazilian Travel Agents , or ABAV ( Associação Brasileiros de Agents de Viagem) says it has more than 3,000 associated companies, in charge of 80 percent of the national market service. ABAV’s site tells us that In Brazil, according to official data, travel agencies have nearly 35,000 direct employments and more than 100,000 indirect employments. (CVC, the nation’s largest operator, is also its largest travel agency, with some 1,200 locations throughout Brazil.)

—The tour and travel sector of the Brazilian economy is recovering. The data regarding operators furnished by PANROTAS shows double digit percentage increases in sales turnover for 2017. This is due in part to the fact that the of the worst economic recession in Brazil in a century—so bad that the news media referred to the situation simply as “A Crise” (“The Crisis”)—was in its trough in 2016, as bankruptcies in the tour and travel industry continued following the collapse in 2015 of Nascimento Turismo , the nation’s second-largest tour operator. In other words, there was no direction for the industry to go last year but up.

The following tables were compiled from material in PANROTAS .

The 11 best antelope canyon tours.

In order to see Antelope Canyon, you'll need to book a guided tour.

The Best Antelope Canyon Tours

Smooth curvature of the canyon created by river erosion and the colours of the earth made this place unbelievably photogenic.

Getty Images

Known for its labyrinthine, seemingly undulating sandstone walls and the beams of sunlight that shine into them, Arizona's Antelope Canyon is a magnet for photographers and tourists traveling through the American Southwest.

The famous landmark forms part of Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park in the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation. As such, the Navajo Nation requires that visitors are led by authorized guides, who provide tours of the Upper Canyon, Lower Canyon and Canyon X. These tours depart from or close to Page, Arizona, though you can also find Antelope Canyon tours from Sedona and Las Vegas .

Note: Most of Arizona does not follow daylight saving time, though the Navajo Nation, where Antelope Canyon is located, does. Be sure to take this into account when planning your visit.

Upper Antelope Canyon Tours

Lower antelope canyon tours, antelope canyon x tours, antelope canyon tours from las vegas, antelope canyon tours from sedona, upper vs. lower antelope canyon.

Before choosing a tour, you'll need to decide which part of the canyon you'd like to see.

The terrain of the Upper Canyon is more accessible for most tourists and is, therefore, busier. Exploring the Lower Canyon , in contrast, requires visitors to have some degree of endurance, as travelers must climb and descend several staircases. Canyon X is less popular, but equally beautiful.

How to Get to Antelope Canyon

Upper Canyon: Companies that provide tours of the Upper Canyon are all based in or near Page, Arizona (where Antelope Canyon is located), and provide transportation. Travelers will need to drive to Page, as there is no public transportation. Drivers coming from the north or south can take Route 89, drivers from the west can take Route 89A, and visitors commuting from the east can take Route 98.

Lower Canyon: Companies serving the Lower Canyon are located within walking distance of the canyon's entrance; therefore, they do not provide transportation to or from Page. Travelers on a Lower Canyon tour will need to drive to the tour operator's location. These companies are about 5 miles east of Page.

Best Antelope Canyon Tours

Several local companies provide guided tours of Upper Antelope Canyon. Because the Upper Canyon is easiest to walk through, it is also quite popular, especially at peak times during the summer. Considering this, making tour reservations well in advance is highly recommended. No matter which tour you pick, you're guaranteed to see incredible rock formations in a kaleidoscope of colors.

Travelers enjoy the tour and appreciate the guides' insights, though some wish they had more time to spend in the canyon.

Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours also runs outings to Upper Antelope Canyon combined with either Rattlesnake Canyon or both Rattlesnake and Owl canyons.

Antelope Canyon Navajo Tours – Guided Sightseers Tour

Price: From $100 Duration: 1.5 hours

All of Antelope Canyon Navajo Tours' guides are local Navajo people, who are generally deemed knowledgeable, personable and professional by travelers. The company's 1.5-hour sightseer tours of the Upper Canyon take place several times daily beginning at 7:30 a.m. Note that prices for the 11:40 a.m. tour are slightly higher, as this is peak time to explore the canyon.

The company opens up online reservations one to two months in advance, so be sure to book early, as tickets sell out quickly.

Antelope Canyon Tours – Upper Antelope Canyon Sightseeing Tour

Price: Adults from $85; kids from $75 Duration: 100 minutes

Navajo owned and operated, Antelope Canyon Tours frequently wins praise for its knowledgeable and helpful guides. On the company's sightseeing tours, you'll spend about an hour in the canyon, plus 40 minutes round-trip travel time to the Antelope Canyon Tours office in Page. Tours run multiple times daily starting at 7:50 a.m., and there is one moderately difficult, 15-minute uphill hike involved. Keep in mind: If you are unable to book a child's ticket, it means there are no more car seats available.

After seeing Upper Antelope Canyon, consider visiting Vermilion Cliffs National Monument with the company on its daylong tour.

Antelope Slot Canyon Tours – Upper Antelope Canyon Tour

Price: Adults from $112; kids from $102 Duration: 1.5 hours

Along with standard tours to Upper Antelope Canyon, Antelope Slot Canyon Tours also offers tours of the nearby Cathedral Canyon. If you're set on a visit to the Upper Canyon, you'll have four time slots to choose from for the 90-minute tour. Pricing varies depending on the time of day and popularity of the tour time.

Discounted tickets are available for members of the military and children ages 6 to 12; children younger than 6 are not permitted. Patrons should be prepared for 20 to 30 minutes of walking while on the tour.

The company's guides consistently earn positive reviews for their knowledge not only of the area's history and culture but also of their photography techniques.

Tips on Trips and Expert Picks

Travel tips, vacation ideas and more to make your next vacation stellar.

Best Antelope Canyon Tours

Two companies lead excursions through Lower Antelope Canyon. The path inside the Lower Canyon can be quite narrow, which may be an issue for visitors uncomfortable with confined spaces. Because of the relatively rugged nature of the terrain, pregnant people and those with heart or joint problems might want to skip these excursions. Along with a rigorous hike, participants on these tours will be surrounded by beautiful scenery and smooth, fabric-like walls throughout their trip.

Ken's Tours – General Tour

Price: Adults from $55; kids from $35 Duration: 1 hour

The General Tour offered by Ken's Tours lasts approximately one hour, during which groups of up to 10 tour-takers will hike about 1 mile. Tours depart daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and you'll need to arrive 30 minutes before departure to check in.

For more information about Navajo culture, book the Deluxe Tour. You'll not only spend an hour in the canyon, but you'll also visit the Hózhǫ́ Haz'ą́ Heritage Site and enjoy a meal. This tour costs approximately $135 per person. These tours depart five times daily (three in the morning and two in the afternoon). Guides are frequently described as informative and friendly and the scenery as unsurpassable.

Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon Tours – Lower Antelope Canyon Hiking Tour

Price: Adults from $55; kids from $35 Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours

These hikes, which travelers say are led by knowledgeable and professional guides, usually last 60 to 90 minutes and cover about a mile. The walks depart from the company's booth near the canyon multiple times each day. Exact departure times vary by season.

Dixie Ellis also offers daylong van tours that combine the Lower Antelope Canyon Tour with visits to the Navajo National Monument and Monument Valley.

Best Antelope Canyon Tours

While the Upper and Lower portions of Antelope Canyon receive tons of fanfare, Antelope Canyon X promises stunning views without the hefty crowds. Antelope Canyon X – which gets its name from the X-shaped formation at the top of the canyon – is located within Antelope Canyon, so it still features the same geologic features the Upper and Lower areas are known for, but its relative anonymity makes it less of a tourist magnet.

Antelope Canyon X Taadidiin Tours

Price: Adults from $40; kids from $30 Duration: 1.5 hours

Antelope Canyon X Taadidiin Tours is the only operator running tours of Antelope Canyon X. It operates 1.5-hour small-group hikes through the canyon. Travelers rave about their visits to this site, and are particularly complimentary of the knowledgeable guides. Tours depart at multiple different times daily. Note that an additional $8 hiking permit is required for visitors ages 8 and older.

Photography enthusiasts can sign up for Taadidiin's Photo Tour, which spends three hours in the canyon and permits participants to bring a tripod and a camera bag. Fees start at about $125 per person.

Tour operators offer full and multiday excursions from Las Vegas that include Antelope Canyon as well as national parks and other iconic attractions.

Bindlestiff Tours - 3-Day National Parks Tour

Price: $875 Duration: 3 days

Depart Las Vegas for this three-day, two-night tour through Zion National Park , Bryce Canyon National Park and the Grand Canyon (where you'll have the option to take a helicopter ride ). The small-group tour also visits Monument Valley, with the option to add a Navajo-guided tour of Antelope Canyon.

Prices include transportation, some meals, a choice of camping or hotel accommodations at the Red Feather Lodge in Tusayan, camping equipment and national park entrance fees. Children must be at least 5 years old to join the tour.

Recent travelers raved about this tour, noting that Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon were their favorite parts of the experience.

Coexist West Coast - Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend

Price: From $280 Duration: 15 hours

Travelers have a choice between the Lower Canyon and Canyon X on this full-day tour from Las Vegas. Following your visit to Antelope Canyon – which is led by a certified Navajo guide – you'll head to nearby Horseshoe Bend for a short hike and more stellar views. Recent travelers appreciate the small group size of these tours, as well as the friendly guides.

Tour prices include round-trip transportation from Las Vegas hotels , attraction entrance fees and water.

Antelope Canyon is roughly three hours from Sedona, making it a great day trip. Many tour operators offer transportation from both Sedona and nearby Flagstaff.

Great Venture Tours - Antelope Canyon Tour

Price: Adults from $259; kids from $239 Duration: 11.5 hours

This Antelope Canyon tour conveniently picks up from hotels in Sedona , Oak Creek Village and Flagstaff. In addition to a Navajo-guided trip through the Upper Canyon, it includes a stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post to shop for art and souvenirs, a visit to Glen Canyon Dam, and views of Lake Powell, among other highlights. Lunch at a sit-down restaurant is also included in the tour price.

Reviewers say the tour guides are exceptional, and because it's a long trip, they appreciated that there were plenty of bathroom breaks and stops along the way.

Note that children must be at least 6 years old to participate in this tour.

Pink Adventure Tours - Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Tour

Price: Adults from $269; kids from $249 Duration: 11 hours

Pink Adventure Tours, popular for its Jeep tours in Sedona , also offers day trips to Antelope Canyon. On the Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Tour, travelers will visit the Lower Canyon, followed by a 1.5-mile hike to the Horseshoe Bend Overlook. This tour also includes lunch and a stop at Cameron Trading Post. Travelers highly recommend this tour, saying it exceeded their expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions

The celebrated light beams that illuminate the canyon are most likely to be seen during the spring and summer months, making April through September the best (and most popular) time to visit.

You cannot visit Antelope Canyon unless you sign up for an official tour. Only authorized tour companies are permitted onto the site. Spots fill up quickly, so be sure to make your reservations ahead of time. There are no self-guided hikes available within the canyon, and visitors must stay with their tour group at all times.

Tour companies' fees vary, but tickets (including entrance to the park) generally start at around $50 for 1.5-hour tours of Upper Antelope Canyon. Tours of Lower Antelope Canyon tend to be shorter (around an hour) and generally start around $40 per adult.

It's best to dress in layers, as it can get 5 to 10 degrees cooler in the canyon. Closed-toe walking shoes with good traction (or hiking boots), sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen are also advised.

In order to protect both Antelope Canyon and its visitors, the following items are prohibited:

  • Bags: All bags are strictly prohibited, including backpacks and fanny packs.
  • Food: You can bring a water bottle, but other beverages and food are not allowed.
  • Selfie sticks and tripods: Photography is permitted, even encouraged, but selfie sticks, tripods and other large equipment are only allowed on professional photography tours.
